Hi I'm Brennan Hays

I'm 19. I grew up/live in Phoenix, Arizona, I currently serve a mission in Leeds England!

About Me

My name is Brennan, I'm 19, I live in Phoenix, Arizona, but currently live in Northern England while I'm on my mission until 2016. When it comes to my list of hobbies, it's a pretty wide variety of things. I LOVE to read. It's been one of my favorite things to do since I was a little kid. I really enjoy most things "artsy" as well. I grew up in a family that worshiped all things color, art, and fun, so I feel comfortable in environments where people can express themselves in whatever form they wish. In High school I was on the Speech and Debate team for all 4 years, and was Co-Captain my senior year. I really loved Speech and Debate because it was this place where you could just get into the meat of how people were feeling. In Speech I mostly participated in events like Slam poetry and Prose, which is where I really found how to express myself. Besides all of that, I'm SUPER into politics, economics, and history. I just find all of those topics fascinating and exciting. I'm currently hoping to enter into at least one of those fields as a career, because I couldn't imagine anything more interesting (I know, it's a bit weird)! I have one Older brother who is married and served his mission in Bulgaria, and one younger sister who is graduating high school in 2015. My brother and his wife, are expecting their first child (A GIRL!) soon. My Mom is going to school for Psychiatry, and my Dad is a lawyer.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I know, beyond a belief of doubt, that this is God's restored church here on earth. That Joseph Smith restored in these latter days the proper priesthood authority of God, and that by using that priesthood authority, he once again brought God's will back into peoples lives. I know that we currently have a modern day prophet that leads and guides this church by revelation from God, and that there is no other way that God would rather organize his church, then by revealing his will through the prophets as he always has done. I know this partly because I have had MANY spiritual witness's that this is His restored church on earth. I have seen and felt the spirit work on myself, my family's, and my friends lives in such a way that I can not deny the feelings of my heart. I also know that these things are true, because I have decided to test them out. To live according to the gospel and see if I could/can feel His influence in my life more abundantly. It's almost like a carpenter in a way. A carpenter can tell you that he's the best one in town, that his chairs are far superior to every other one out there, but you can't really trust the carpenter on his word! He has to make you a chair to try out and see if he's all that he says! It's the same with this gospel! By trying out the "chair", I have found that this gospel truly is the best one for me. And I know that it's the best one for everyone else as well, if they'll only give it a fair shot.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by really just trying to be the best person I can be. I know that the gospel of Jesus Christ helps me to really fulfill my purpose here on earth, and that it allows me to reach to become the best that I can possibly become. I go to church, because it's a place where I can be with my family and friends, and we can worship with each other in such a way that it brings us closer together. I've chosen to serve my mission as well, not because I feel an obligation to go (although that's a completely valid reason), but because I had a powerful spiritual witness and experience that going on my mission was what I needed to do. That by going on my mission, my heavenly father would be able to bless all those around me, and those whom I met in England, more then I ever could by simply staying at home and going to University. I live my faith by trying to help all those I come in contact with, even when I sometimes feel as though I'm not helping anybody at all. I live my faith by trying to be obedient to the commandments that God has given us, even though I know I'll mess up sometimes. God loves a tryer though, so I just keep on trying.
