Hi I'm Carson

I live in Utah. I am a graduate from Davis High School. Class of 2014. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 18 years old and I just graduated from high school. I am a track and field sprinter and long jumper. I enjoy hiking the mountains around my home, fishing, and anything to do with the outdoors. Avid FIFA player. I love almost all types of sports. I also love to travel and fly in planes and I hope to be able to attend college and later become an Airline Pilot. I have been called to serve in the Florida, Fort Lauderdale Mission. Speaking the Haitian Creole language. I leave October 1, 2014.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have read the Book of Mormon and prayed to my Heavenly Father and I have asked him if it is true. I have found out for myself that this is his restored gospel. I have grown up in the church so I have been around it my whole life. As I have grown older, I have found that nobody can be a member of any church based on what your parents' or other family members' faith is. Eventually, everybody must come to find the truth for themselves. I have gained a very strong testimony by praying and reading the scriptures and gaining a very close relationship with my Savior. I know without a shadow of a doubt that this gospel is His. Joseph Smith saw Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ in the Sacred Grove and the priesthood was restored through him. I feel very blessed because I have been lucky enough to have known this great gospel my entire life. I feel that it is my responsibility to share this great gospel to people that are not familiar with it. I will be serving a mission for the church in a few short months and I cannot wait to go out and spread the good word to people that are searching for the truth. I feel that serving a mission is the least I can do for my Heavenly Father, who has given me so much. I feel His love every day in my life and being a member of this church has helped me through so many challenges in life.

How I live my faith

I participate in my ward by attending church meetings every Sunday. I have a calling in my ward as an instructor for one of my classes that I attend. The class is full of adult males. I have to prepare a lesson and teach them once a month. It is very intimidating because I am one of the youngest in that class and I teach men that are twice my age! But I learn so much every time I teach and I love it. I also help around my neighborhood in various service activities. Everywhere from helping someone move in, to taking care of someone's yard while they are unable to. Service is a great way to be active in your community and to help strengthen friendships with your neighbors.

What is the priesthood?

The priesthood is the authority to act in God's name. Only worthy young men are able to hold the priesthood. The priesthood is used to help serve others in ways Christ would serve them. He is not on the Earth to do that work, so he has given us the power and authority to do the work for him. Priesthood holders are to follow the example of Jesus Christ and serve others. Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

No we do not worship Joseph Smith. We believe Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. Through him, the priesthood was restored to the earth. We worship God our Eternal Father and the risen Lord Jesus Christ. We respect Joseph Smith and acknowledge him as a prophet. Show more Show less
