Hi I'm Joseph

I grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada. I am currently a Husband, Father and Student; and I am a Mormon.

About Me

In the little time off that I get, I enjoy taking my wife & kids on hikes. We especially love going near water (ocean, lakes, rivers, waterfalls, etc...). I have four children, I go to College in Western New York, and I work full time on a cardiac/stroke unit in a hospital. Life's not easy, but having the gospel in my life helps.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was a teenager, a member of the Bishopric got upset at me and told me I didn't belong in church. I told him "I would no longer come". He later apologized, but it fell on deaf ears. I was too smart to go to church (so I thought). For many years I fell away, but I never doubted that the church was true. In fact, I often found myself walking around Temple grounds, so I could feel some sort of peace in my life. I later moved into an apartment with a family member who at the time was addicted to drugs, and there were many evil spirits within our place. He would enter my room when I was gone, and steel my things, and spend our rent money on his habits. One day I had a feeling I needed to hang my scripture bag (which holds my Book of Mormon) on the inside door handle of my room, which I did. The next day I came home from work early, and was surprised to see my brother trying to go into my room. He reached for the door handle, but retracted immediately when he touched it, as if he were burned, then turned and went into his room. He called for me to come to him, and I told him to come into my room. He replied "I can't" so I called him again, to which he replied the same "I can't, I can't come in to your room". I knew it was because my Book of Mormon. I decided to see for myself what the Mormon Church was all about. It was awkward returning at first, and Satan made me feel like I didn't belong there. Everyone was kind to me, and soon I KNEW that the Church was True, and that I belonged. The Church is for everyone, not just for those who are perfect. In fact, the only perfect person in our church, sits at the Head of the church; and that is Jesus Christ. I know that to be true, and that is why; I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I hold the Priesthood, and use it to provide fathers blessings, as well as give blessings to the sick and afflicted. I help my community by providing service to those in need. I also help out with the Boy Scouts of America, especially in the Cub Scout Program. I am a home teacher, and enjoy spending time with the families I get to meet with each month. I am not a Sunday only church person, I am an everyday, praise my God, count my blessings church person.
