Hi I'm Michele L. McKenna-Dodd

I am married to my best friend and known him for more that half my life. We have two daughters I am a convert and I am a Mormon.

About Me

As I said before, I am a Mormon. I joined the church in 2006 and was baptized with our youngest daughter. I had started a new job for an attorney in March of 2005 and unbeknownst to me my employer was a Mormon, but we never spoke about religion. I noticed that one day after he had left there some pass along cards sitting on his desk. I was curious about the book that was free regarding the family, so I took one and didn't say a word to him. I called the number on the card and the young man who answered was super nice. I had no idea at the time I was calling the MTC. They were obliging and would send get the book to me. I told him how I got my hands on the pass along card and gave them my employer's name. I had no idea what about to happen next. A few days later, my employer asked me if I inquired about the book. I was a little embarrassed and felt like I had my hand in the cookie jar. A few days later two nice looking young men stopped by my house to deliver the book. Yes, the missionaries. I received a call from my youngest daughter that I needed to meet them. I kept avoiding them, but I really wanted that book. I relented and met with them in order to have the book. We started taking the lessons and immediately was asked to be baptized. I of course refused and went through a few sets of missionaries. A few months later, I knew it was something I wanted to do and was making the conversion with my life and family. I am so glad they did not give up on me.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon, because this gospel is true. It has opened my eyes to so much joy and has taught me to persevere through some difficult times. I never thought it would bring our family together the way it has. My husband was less active most of his membership and took the leap of faith to come back to the church and I was honored when he asked me if he could baptize me. Our oldest daughter resisted taking the lessons and joining us at church until one day she surprised me with the best gift on Mother's Day in 2006. She too wanted to be baptized. Our family was sealed in the temple in 2008 and it was a pleasure to know that we will be together again when we leave this physical experience on earth. She is by far the strongest in the family.

How I live my faith

I have had some great callings since my membership. I was given three callings when I first joined the church and was very overwhelmed. Because of my callings, I have been able to learn the gospel at many different levels from primary to young women and with the sisters. Right now, I have a calling that does not require too much and I am enjoying Sunday school and my husband and I study the lessons together. I find it difficult to study daily, but I am so lucky to have the opportunity to listen to talks while at work whenever I want to. Our family has been blessed and saved because of the scriptures and the love we are shown by our ward family. It gives us the opportunity to serve others and be Christ like when we can.
