Hi I'm Blake Colten Brust

I'm a born and raised Missiourian. I am about to serve a mission to El Salvador San Salvador East Mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in St. Louis Missouri. I have 5 younger siblings one of which is married. My parents are divorced. I am huge into theatre, particularly acting! I've had a lot of different jobs being a DJ assistant then a lifeguard then a part time balloon animal making clown followed by part time photographer and a TV show directors assistant then to a part time DJ (by myself) and finally being a waiter. You may be think that's a lot for a 21 year old boy! but It's not that I couldn't hold down a job. I just found so much joy in doing different things. I am still searching to find a fitting career. One in which involves people (I would not be able to sit at a desk job) and perhaps something in entertainment. I've attended two years at Meramec St. Louis community college. I am currently about to serve a mission to El Salvador San Salvador East mission and I couldn't be more excited! I will be departing on the 6th of August 2014 and shall return August 2016.

Why I am a Mormon

I didn't always believe in the church. My parents raised me in it but shortly after their divorce I was lost. The churches main focus was on families being together for ever. Divorce happens all the time in the world but I never thought it would happen to mine. I had set my testimony based on all of us staying together forever but it ended. I had no close friends in the church. I was bullied in schools for many years and I felt utterly alone. After a couple of years of attending church sometimes but not really dedicated, I was close to giving up all together. I loved my father in heaven but I had a hard time feeling his love because in all honesty I didn't love myself. I soon realized my mistake. I had based my testimony on so many other people that I had little of my own. I prayed and studied hard. I read through the scriptures in a few short months. My biggest answer came late one night while I prayed to know of the truth once again. All at once I warm feeling came over me and the thoughts came to my mind. "Blake you already know the church is true". I picked myself up and stood assured what I needed to do for the first time in my life. I soon found a lovely young women who was planning on going on a mission. She was an angel to me. Shortly after I had another of those strong warm feelings "Blake you can still have an eternal family". I'd like to say the lord led me to this sweet girl. She has been such an inspiration and she currently serves a mission in Santa Rosa California. We will have to wait and see what happens in the next two years to see how it ends. I know without a doubt a testimony in Christ our lord and savior is the strongest foundation a person can have. The mercy and love he shows me is unbelievable. I am overwhelmed with our father in heavens blessings. I feel more love for myself and others because I know this truth. I wouldn't trade it for anything and my testimony will stand for the rest of eternity.

How I live my faith

I currently teach the gospels essentials class in the Webster groves ward. Its a class for anyone who is interested about joining or just wanting to learn more about Mormons. Its super basic yet very fulfilling. I love having new people to teach because more often then not they are the ones teaching me new things.
