Hi I'm Emily

Ohio is home. I attended BYU. My family is awesome. Called to serve in Portugal. I'm a mormon.

About Me

Ohio is the place I call home but this past year I had the opportunity to move to Utah to attend BYU. It was one of the greatest experiences of my life thus far, and I have definitely fallen in love with mountains and the great state of Utah. I have four older brothers who have also attended BYU and they are some of the greatest examples in my life, alongside my parents. Since Utah is known for it's skiing and snowboarding, I decided to take on snowboarding as a new hobby and have loved every minute of it. Throughout junior high and high school I ran track and cross country but continue to run during my free time. I have always wanted to become an orthodontist and hope to achieve that goal one day. Before I reach that goal, there are a couple other things on my list such as serving a mission. I recently received my mission call to the PORTUGAL PORTO mission and I could not be more excited!!! Serving other people has always brought joy into my life and I am excited to share this wonderful gospel with the people of Portugal. Some of my other favorite things include ice cream, shopping, rainy days, Huntington Beach, running, fresh green beans, hiking, and traveling!

Why I am a Mormon

My whole life I have attended church and as I grow up I have been able to gain a testimony for myself. My testimony continues to grow each day, however there came a time when I needed to know for myself whether or not this gospel was true. I can testify that it is and that I have seen the power of God work miracles in my life. I know that I am a child of God and that He loves each and every person, that He knows all of us by name, He knows our needs, He knows our struggles, He knows our strengths, and He has a plan for each of us. He loves us so much and words cannot describe the overwhelming joy He feels when we choose to follow Him and share the gospel with other people. I also know that Jesus Christ died for not only my sins, but for every single person's sins. Jesus Christ understands exactly what we are going through, whether it is heartache, pain, loneliness, or confusion. He is our friend, brother, Redeemer and He lives and will always be there for us no matter what. It is through Him that we can make it back to live with Heavenly Father again some day. I also know that families are eternal and we can continue to live with our families after this life. It is not over, because this is just a small part of eternity. I know this is Christ's church that was restored upon the Earth today by a boy named Joseph Smith. Joseph Smith is a prophet of God and his faith in God is the reason that I am here today to share the gospel. He fought for his beliefs and I will do the same because this is where true happiness lies. The Book of Mormon, along with the Bible are true books that we have today. They allow us to grow closer to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and to read about the struggles and triumphs of those before us and because of these prophets and ancient people, we can overcome our struggles, so that we may be triumphant. Lastly, I am grateful for the power of pray that allows me to speak with Heavenly Father and express my gratitude for everything He has done.

How I live my faith

There is only a small Mormon population in Cincinnati, Ohio, however that is all the reason for me to share the gospel. Many of my friends know that I am a Mormon because of the high standards I choose to live by. They often ask questions about the church and I am eager to share with them what they want to know. Along with that, I have chosen to serve a mission in order to serve my Heavenly Father and to share with others the joy I find in living the gospel standards.
