Hi I'm Alecia Abeling

I grew up in Illinois with my wonderful family and then attended school in Washington D.C at Gallaudet University.

About Me

I was born in Illinois with one younger sister and parents. I love my part-member family; there are only four of us and we are very close. My mom was also raised in the church and my dad is not a member but we have love and respect for each other. My family means the world to me as well as the gospel of Jesus Christ- both have brought me the most happiness in my life which is why I always carry a smile.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I was born into the Church, I had to be converted just like everyone else. It never hit me all at once that this gospel was true and it was Christ's. The knowledge of this truth that I hold dear, came over many years, trials, and faith-testing situations. Above all, this Gospel brings me the most happiness when I live my standards, use the Atonement of Jesus Christ to repent, and share my faith and happiness with others.

How I live my faith

I attended a University where there were 2 other active LDS members. Living in a large city I have to take a lot of public transportation to get to church including a bus, metro, and lots of walking. I thought it would be hard to find motivation for my hour commute but I soon realized that this Gospel of Christ is what anchors me. In fact, going to church ended up giving me the motivation I needed to get through the week ahead. I live my faith through my everyday actions- I love to have fun, dance and sing and do so in a way that upholds my standards. I get along with everyone and love to meet new people and hear their stories.
