Hi I'm Diane Lee

I grew up in Canada. I'm a daughter, a sister, an aunt, a mother, a wife, and a grandmother, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to learn how to do everything! From flower arranging to fixing cars, I am constantly involved in projects and learning new skills. Life is an adventure to me. I have travelled to many countries and love meeting new people. Every single person I meet has something to teach me. I often think there is not enough time to read or learn all I would like to in this life! I love being a mother and grandmother. I find joy in homemaking skills - yes, cooking, sewing, cleaning etc.! You could say I am old fashioned. My family is very musical and creative. When we get together we sing and perform for each other. These times are my most treasured.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born as a Mormon in Canada. I grew up in a family of 8 children. I wanted to know of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I had to study and search for myself to see if it was true. I knew early on that I WANTED to believe, because I saw the peace and happiness it brought to others. I found out that I needed to learn for myself if it was true. The search for truth required personal effort. I studied the Book of Mormon and prayed to know. I continued to pray and be faithful to the commandments so that I could know and understand the truth. Heavenly Father has given me peace and understanding. I know of His love for me, I also testify of the Savior's atonement which allows me to be forgiven. Life is difficult and I make mistakes. I know that if I continue to seek and obey, I will be shown the path to follow. This is a great comfort to me. The world speaks loudly and wants to pull me away from truth. The safety of obedience keeps me hearing the voice I need to follow. I testify the scriptures are true.

How I live my faith

I currently work with the Young Women (ages 12-18) I spend an hour on Sundays in gospel study with them, and a once a week night activity to reinforce principles learned on the sabbath. I love serving the Young Women. I learn so much from them. They are the hope for the future. They are strong and bright and my time spent with them seems to bless me so much. I have found that serving others is key to my personal happiness. Sometimes it seems overwhelming to accomplish all that I desire to do, but I always feel so happy and peaceful as I serve others. Having a knowledge of the love my Heavenly Father, motivates me to help others to feel His love for them.

Can you tell me about Mormon customs: how you dress for church, what holidays you celebrate, etc.?

Diane Lee
Mormon customs can sometimes seem very different than others. We do dress in "Sunday best" for church in honor of our Savior, Jesus Christ. When we attend our sacrament meeting, we partake of the emblems of the sacrament. This ordinance is to renew our covenants we have made at our baptism. We dress to respect this ordinance and strive to not bring attention to our outward appearance. This allows others to renew their covenants and worship on the sabbath without distraction. Members of the church love to have a reason for a celebration! We regard Christmas and Easter as essential christian celebrations where we try to balance secular customs of the country we live in with respectful, meaningful observance and acknowledgment of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
