Hi I'm Sally Ann

I'm a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother! And I'm the original pioneer Mormon for my family!

About Me

I was born and raised in Connecticut. My dad was an Iron Worker and my mother cared for my three brothers and myself. I am of Finnish descent. I began dancing when I was 4yrs old and eventually became a professional acrobatic/contortionist touring the country in night clubs performing with Nat King Cole, Sophie Tucker, Larry Storch, and many more. I performed on television in Cuba, on cruise ships and was a beauty pageant winner in 1955. I even had my own television show in Adak, Alaska. I met the love of my life, a dashing Naval Officer, at the Submarine Base in Groton, Connecticut. We've been married since 1957. We have two beautiful daughters and three handsome sons. They have blessed us with 21 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. As a Navy family we were stationed in many interesting places. My two daughters were born in Yokosuka, Japan, my son in Kodiak, Alaska, and my youngest in Bangkok, Thailand. Our only child born stateside was our oldest son. While we were stationed in Kodiak, my husband was deployed to Vietnam. During this time, the missionaries tracted into our family and subsequently I was baptized with my three oldest children less than six weeks later. All three of my sons served missions for the Church. My interests have always included a variety of crafts, but more recently I've added canning. I also enjoy family history and visiting my children and their families. My children describe me as outgoing, bubbly, happy, and full of life.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because the Holy Spirit bore witness to my heart and soul that the message the Mormon missionaries shared with me and my family in 1971 was true. I couldn't deny it then and I can't deny it now.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by attending the Church and Temple regularly, sharing my testimony of Jesus Christ with others, and keeping family and friends in my daily prayers. I am a people person and, therefore, enjoy fellowshipping new members in our congregation and inviting them to our home for meals and activities. I visit sisters in our congregation on a regular basis, sharing uplifting Gospel messages and serving them according to their needs. My husband and I include others in our worship activities by providing transportation and friendship.
