Hi I'm Elizabeth Jamison

I live in Lake Oswego, Oregon. I play rugby and the piano. I am the fourth of five children, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a high school senior. Aside from school, I'm involved in a lot of activities that really keep me on my toes. I work at one of the grocery stores in town. I play girls' rugby with a high school club in one of our neighboring communities. I take piano lessons. I am in the band at school, and I am actively involved in my church. I also have a crazy family that makes every day unlike any other. I am preparing now to go off to college, where I hope to study psychology and criminology so that I can pursue a career in law enforcement. I plan on serving a full-time mission after I have a little bit of schooling completed. I was raised in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and I strive daily to apply the teachings of the gospel of Jesus Christ to my busy and unpredictable life.

Why I am a Mormon

I love The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I was raised in this church because of the decisions my wonderful parents have made, yet I know that I would choose to join this church even without their influence. I know that the teachings and principles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are true. I know that the Book of Mormon is a true account and is a testament of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I have read the Book of Mormon on my own. I have prayed and studied and I have felt the Holy Spirit confirm to me, through revelation, that the book is true and contains the fullness of the gospel. I know that Joseph Smith was called by God to be the prophet who would restore the church in the latter days. I know that he established God's one and only true church on this earth and that prophets continue to lead this church and act in the Lord's name today. I have never questioned this church. Maybe it's because of my upbringing. I honestly don't know. All I know is that I have received confirmation that the teachings of this church are true and that God is aware of my situation. He knows me and He loves me. I am His daughter, and I hope that I will be able to continue to live righteously so that I can return to live with Him some day.

How I live my faith

I have had many opportunities to serve in my church over the past few years. Although I am still young, my previous and current bishops have extended callings to me, where I have been a leader to the girls my same age. When given these callings, I have the responsibility to watch over and care for my peers and address their needs in any way that I can. I am able to provide my friends with emotional and spiritual support as they undergo challenges in life. I know that when my bishop extends a calling to me, he is acting on divine inspiration from the Lord. My faith and testimony have been strengthened as I have grown to love and care for the girls my age. Although I have served in many leadership positions before, I am always able to learn something new about myself or about the gospel of Jesus Christ through the girls that I serve. I am also able to share my knowledge and testimony with them, and together, we strengthen each other.
