Hi I'm Heather

I am a mother of five amazing children. I love taking motorcycle trips with my husband. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a home where I was the oldest of seven children. We moved quite a few times during my childhood, from Utah to Wyoming to California. It wasn't always easy, but we relied on one another and built strong friendships within our home. My husband and I met in a bowling class during college. I was a terrible bowler, and he promised to cook me dinner if I could pick up a spare. Miraculously, I knocked all of the pins down, and we have been together ever since. We have five wonderful children, and have been married for 21 years. We enjoy spending time together as a family playing games, hiking, camping, listening to music, going for motorcycle rides and quoting movies. Life is an adventure, and we enjoy our time together.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised by parents who are very diligent, active members of the church. From the time I was very young I have followed their examples and have had the desire to follow the teachings of the gospel. The Holy Ghost has testified to me, time and time again, that the things that are taught in the scriptures, and by modern prophets and apostles are true. The teachings of the gospel brings a clarity and direction to my life that doesn't come from any other source. I feel peace and happiness, knowing that I have a Heavenly Father and a Savior who love me, and that we can return to them one day if we follow the path that has been laid out for us. I am grateful for the power of prayer, and know that if we desire to do what is right, and then act in faith following the commandments we have been given, we will be able to have our hearts changed, and become more like our Savior. As a parent, I am so grateful that I can teach my children that, in spite of all of the chaos and darkness in the world, they can find eternal joy and purpose in studying and following the teachings of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I think that living my faith begins at home with my family. I am so grateful to have a husband who works with me to teach our children the things that bring us true peace and happiness. We find great strength and direction in reading the scriptures together daily, and strive to follow our Savior's example of love and charity. I love working with the children in our church, and have spent many years serving in Primary with wonderful children and teachers. I love the quote from Rosemary Wixom, "Primary is where children’s souls are anchored in Christ.” Both as a mother and as a Primary leader, my highest priority is to help the children to truly understand that they are children of a Heavenly Father who loves them, and they can return to him one day through the gift of the Atonement of Jesus Christ. It's a great privilege and responsibility to teach children.
