Hi I'm Abby Woods

I'm a college sophomore. I love TV and movies. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a college sophomore trying to decide my career. I love school and learning. I am still trying to decide what my major will be, but enjoy taking my general education classes. I work hard to get good grades, but I also believe in working hard and playing harder! One of my favorite things to do is watch movies. The Marvel films are my favorites right now! I love to be with my friends. We find new adventures every day.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of the answers my church gives to me. The gospel allows me to understand who I am, why I am here on earth, and what I need to do to live with God again. Living the gospel standards helps me to make good decisions and helps me progress throughout my life! I have seen the benefits of following God's commandments countless times, even though I am only a sophomore in college. College can be a confusing time for some who do not know God. College is seen by many to be a time of "experimenting" and discovering who you are. For many, so much time is wasted on addicting drugs, alcohol, and the so called "discovering" of who one is. I know for myself that the gospel is true, and I know that I am a child of God, and that my purpose on earth is to learn and grow. I am not confused, though I once was. I found myself through the gospel, and I have peace. That is why I am a Mormon, because through the gospel I know who I am.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by participating in my church. Whenever I am asked I speak in my church and hold leadership positions. I love speaking in church because I always learn so much more by teaching than by listening. It can be scary sometimes but it always ends well! I also enjoy holding leadership positions in my church because it gives me an opportunity to love and care for the members in my church.

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

Abby Woods
A definition of a legal testimony is this: a form of evidence obtained by a witness who makes a solemn declaration of fact. Just like legal testimonies in courts of law, Mormons can share their testimonies, similar to legal testimonies, not only in church meetings but in more private discussions with family members and friends. These testimonies are expressions of their knowledge they have obtained in their lives about the gospel. I would like to share my testimony with you. I know that my Heavenly Father, or God, lives, and loves each one of us. I know that he sent His son Jesus Christ to come to earth and to die for us so that we can be clean from sin and return again to our Heavenly Father. I know that we are led today by a living prophet, Thomas S. Monson, who heads our church. I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Savior, Jesus Christ's church restored on the earth today. I also know that anyone can find peace and strength through living the gospel standards. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, amen. Show more Show less
