Hi I'm Lauren

I am from Tasmania, Australia. Married, and enjoy the quiet country life. I am a disciple of Jesus Christ, I am a mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of a 21 month old and am expecting another child in 8 weeks. I love to knit baby/toddler items. I live in the country and enjoy the quiet, simple things in life. I keep a small vegetable garden, and have chickens, that give us so many eggs in the summer, we have to sell eggs because we can't use them all. I pick blackberries in the summer and apples in autumn. I play the guitar, mainly for my own pleasure and company. I love sport, though, I don't play as much as I used to now that I am a mum.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a mormon because I was taken from a very dark place in my life and brought back to the light of the Gospel. I have personally felt the power of Jesus Christ's mercy in my life and I owe my current life to Him. I know He loves me because I have been forgiven of my past mistakes. I made some pretty poor choices in my youth and forgot God and didn't think I could be forgiven. But when I was 19, I started reading the scriptures again, and I felt so close to God and Jesus Christ. I knew I wanted to change and be the person they wanted me to be. I felt so happy returning to church and coming to know God more. Because I have been forgiven of so much, I have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and know that he is my Saviour. I know His church is on the earth and this gives me so much hope for the future. Being a mormon helps me keep an eternal perspective when times get hard and makes me focus on the simple but important things in life.

How I live my faith

I go to my country ward every Sunday. We live only a couple of hundred metres from our meeting house. My responsibility in my ward is to help with the young women, the girls aged 12-18 years old. I teach lessons on Sunday and also attend the youth activities every wednesday evening. Our ward is very family orientated, and many of the members in our ward are related to each other, in one way or another. So we are all familiar with each other and people's families. I live my faith by trying to have the gospel in our home everyday, not just when we go to church on Sundays. I love reading the scriptures and my toddler loves learning about Jesus Christ. We often look at pictures of Him and the things he did in His life, this makes it easy to teach about Him.

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

We all need Jesus Christ, without him, none of us can return to Heaven. No matter how good we are, or no matter all the work we do in this life, we cannot earn our way into Heaven. Because we all make mistakes, those mistakes cannot be taken away without Jesus Christ. Is it because of His grace that we can be forgiven of our mistakes and return to live with him in Heaven. This we cannot do on our own, no matter what else we do, we need Jesus Christ to cleanse us from sin. Show more Show less
