Hi I'm Meryk

I love life. I love to live in my imagination. I'm a mormon.

About Me

My name is Meryk Mercedes. I'm known as "Merk" by friends, "M&M&M Kid" by others, "Triple-M" when I feel cool and funky, and "MercyMac" when I'm a radio dj. I'm the eldest of eight. My siblings are my best friends. I like to read, write, talk, sing, rock climb, go on adventures, dream and also take naps. I was a track star in high school and I wrote for my town newspaper. I wore a sweaty bear costume in a children's play in college (I was the sweaty one) and I love to watch Korean Drama Television. I worked as a lifeguard and did lawn care and landscaping to save up money for my mission. Oh, and I hate chocolate.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a mormon because a long time ago my mom met the missionaries and converted to this Gospel. I am a result of her decision. But I am also a Mormon because I choose to be. Everyday. I have been raised in the church and have overcome a lot of trials in my life. I have been able to do so because of my Savior, Jesus Christ. I know He lives. At an early age I gained a testimony of my Heavenly Father's love for me and His desire for me to return to His presence. I am a Latter-day Saint: I live it; I love it. I dare to be a Mormon, I dare to stand alone, I dare to have a purpose firm, and I dare to make it known. I know the Prophet Joseph Smith restored plain and precious truth to Earth, and that the Church is on the earth again. I know this because I have read the Book of Mormon, I have prayed about it, and I can not deny the feelings I receive in my heart. I love being a mormon!

How I live my faith

In my community I participated in CERT, or Community Emergency Response Team, and I wrote for the local newspaper. I also volunteer for the community theatre on weekends. Some days, I even babysit. I love to go visit families and I play the piano for them or go to the Senior Home, Hospital or Care Center to play for the elderly. I've also played for weddings. Most of the time anyone gives me chocolate, I give it away. I like to tell stories. Callings I've had in my church were Youth Council, where I participated on a youth committee for my church and Laurel President, where I was the youth leader of the young women's group in my ward. I planned activities for a lot of the youth groups. I also played the piano in primary for the younger children on Sunday and the organ for my Young Single Adult ward. I was officially a ward missionary and unofficially a friend to those I came in contact with. As a ward missionary I helped the missionaries of my church by being a member present with lessons, helping them find those to teach and inviting others to our ward activities.
