Hi I'm Jared

I was born in California, and then I moved to Utah. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in California until I was eight. I went to kindergarten through second grade in a Chinese immersion school. My grandpa died when I was seven. When I was eight, we moved to Utah where we still live. In middle school I was able to start back up studying Chinese. When I was growing up I played the cello, chess, soccer, and video games. In high school I continued to study Chinese and took lots of STEM classes and orchestra classes. I still play the cello and video games. I love math, learning Chinese, and playing Magic: the Gathering. I love spending time with my family. During my senior year, I was the Sterling Scholar (a state award) for Mathematics for my school and was the Math Team President. I've taken several AP classes and enjoyed them. I have been accepted to a university and delayed going there so I could serve an LDS mission.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was young, I remember going to the temple grounds and just feeling the overwhelming Spirit there testifying that this was the house of the Lord, that he was there and wanted me to know I he was there. I also remember learning of Joseph Smith and his vision of God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ and knowing that it was true because of the Spirit testifying that it is true. Joseph Smith truly did see God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ in the Sacred Grove, and the angel Moroni did come and show where the plates where and he did translate it into the Book of Mormon, which we now have. God loves us and wants us to return to him, and if we obey His word we can return to him through faith on the Lord, Jesus Christ, and repenting of all our transgressions. He did atone for all our mistakes if only we will accept it by what we do.

How I live my faith

When I was growing up I would participate in our ward youth activities and helped to lead the young men group I was in for a couple of years. I also helped plan a stake young men camp. I also helped members of the ward by meeting with them and asking if there is anything we could do to help and sharing a recent message from the leaders of the church. I have gone to the church building on Sunday for as long as I can remember and learned there. I also went to early morning seminary classes before school during my time at high school.
