Hi I'm Elise Alohiaulani Carnahan

I grew up in Utah. I went to college in Hawaii. I'm Hapa. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a lover of sunsets and Oreos. Growing up, I was never one to stick with a hobby so I can proudly say that I've tried everything from hip-hop to hula to fencing to ballet to piano to tap dance to swimming to horseback riding, and so on and so forth. Name a hobby, and I've probably tried it for a couple months. Seriously, name one. I grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah, the oldest of 3 children. My mom is Hawaiian, and my dad is Irish. After graduation I went to BYU-Hawaii where I enjoyed learning more about my culture and myself. I came home to prepare to serve a mission. I have been called to the Honduras Comayaguela mission and cannot be more excited to dedicate 18 months of my time and energy to bring that part of Central America the message of Jesus Christ's restored gospel.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents raised us to be strong Mormons, but, more than that, they raised us to be strong followers of Christ. Growing up, I could see their example of being Mormon but never felt the pressure of being forced to choose this religion for myself. It wasn't until I moved out to college that I truly realized the happiness that living this gospel brings compared to the confusion that overcomes you when you don't. I am Mormon because I choose happiness, and this gospel makes me happy.

How I live my faith

I live my faith day by day, moment by moment. I have never known such happiness as when I am living the standards that this Gospel has set for us. These standards aren't always 'cool' for today's world. However, I have found that if I simply take it one step at a time, dealing with one topic or trial at a time, my testimony is strengthened in every aspect.
