Hi I'm Melissa

I love my family. I'm currently serving as a full-time missionary in the Japan, Fukuoka mission. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I am half Japanese. I have three brothers and three sisters. I played basketball and lacrosse in high school. I enjoy swimming, traveling, and watching American football with my family. I studied Nursing with an emphasis in Sports Medicine. Currently serving as a full-time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Japan, Fukuoka mission

Why I am a Mormon

I am incredibly blessed to have been born into a Mormon family. However, I do not just follow the teachings of Mormonism because my family belongs to this church. Through daily prayer, and scripture study I have come to know that this is the true church. I know that Joseph Smith restored The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on the earth. I know that he translated the golden plates so that we could have the Book of Mormon today. I know Joseph Smith was a true prophet. I know that Heavenly Father sent his only begotten son to come and atone for our sins. I know that through this atonement, we can return to live with our Heavenly Father again. I know that through the atonement we can be forgiven of our sins, and be comforted when needs be. I know that Thomas S. Monson is the true prophet on the earth today. I know that Heavenly Father speaks to us through him. I know through Heavenly Father's plan we can be with our families forever. I know that Heavenly Father has a specific plan for me. I know that if I do what is right I will be blessed. I chose to become a member of this Church because I love my Heavenly Father and want his to be pleased by my actions. I know that if I follow him I will be blessed.

How I live my faith

I love being part of a ward family. It gives you great opportunities to serve others, and have others serve you. I have participated in many Young Women presidencies where I was able to serve my fellow young women by organizing activities that helped strengthen our relationships with one another. This last year I was able to participate in visiting teaching. I was able to visit with two amazing ladies. They, along with my visiting teaching companion, taught me so much about compassion, kindness, and striving to better ourselves.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

When I wanted to know if this Church was true I studied the Book of Mormon and sincerely prayed to my Heavenly Father to help me know what I was learning, and reading was true. I could feel peace when I asked Heavenly Father. I knew through this feeling of peace that this Church was, and is true. It's important that when you are praying for an answer, to be doing all you can to have the Holy Spirit with you at all times. Show more Show less
