Hi I'm Mark

I'm a missionary in the Iowa Des Moines Mission, I love soccer, and I'm going to BYU this fall!

About Me

I just finished my freshman year at college and am thinking about a mechanical engineering major. Soccer is my favorite sport and I played all through High School. I also enjoy a good game of basketball. I am an Eagle Scout and love to hike and be outdoors. I play the trumpet and have played it in Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, and Marching Band. I also love to ski although I haven't got to go very often. I have a big extended family and enjoy spending time with all of my cousins.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have a testimony of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon. I have read it many times and know that it is the word of God, and by extension that this is the Lord's Church on the Earth today. I know that there is a difference to my day when I actually spend a little bit of time studying the Book of Mormon. I feel less anger and don't get as frustrated with my little brothers, or anyone else, because I can feel the love that God has for them and for me. I know that there is joy, comfort, and peace that comes into my life when I read and ponder the teachings in this inspired Book. I love going to Church each week and learning more about my Savior and His gospel. I know that He is the way that we are able to get back to live with God again. Because I know that we did live with God before we came to Earth and that now we are being tested to see if we will obey Him here on Earth. Jesus Christ performed the Atonement, taking upon Him all of our sins if we will turn to Him and repent. I know that His Church is the way that will lead me to Him, and that this is Christ's Church. We can return and live with God as families, forever. That is why I am a Mormon. I want to live with my family, in Heaven, for all eternity, and I know that obeying God and being active in His Church is the way to do that.

How I live my faith

I have participated in many service projects with others in my ward, such as pulling weeds and other yard work for people that need help, and helping people move in and out of our community. I have tried to be a good example to those around me like my teammates, by using good language on the soccer field. I also have tried not to leave people out, and to be a friend to those who might be a little different or not fit in as well with other people as much. I also was a teacher for the fifteen year-old youth at our church for a couple of months. Other callings that I have had in church are being a home teacher, and going and visiting certain members of our ward each month and giving a message and asking if there was anything that we could do to help them.
