Hi I'm Malia

I'm from Washington. I am the oldest of four. I love traveling. I'm currently serving a mission in Kobe, Japan, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love playing sports and doing fun things with friends and family. Volleyball, basketball, tennis, and skiing include some of my favorites. I am currently attending Utah State University in Logan, Utah and am studying to be a Middle School English teacher. I am leaving to serve a full-time mission for 18 months in Kobe, Japan on August 20, 2014, and could not be more excited.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it brings me joy. The gospel of Jesus Christ helps me to be confident, virtuous, loving, charitable, and committed. I have recently made the decision to serve a full-time mission for a period of 18 months. Making this decision seemed to be hard for me at first, but after many prayers and much faith, I knew that I needed to serve a mission. Now that I have received my call to Kobe, Japan, I can feel the spirit guiding me in everything that I do. Personal scripture study and prayer have been a huge testimony builder to me recently. Everything that I do is based on the principles of the gospel, and I have found that I have so much more true happiness in my life and I am able to feel the Savior's love more than I ever have before. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is true. There is no denying it. I have made many mistakes in my life, as all of us have, but through the atonement of Jesus Christ I know that I can be made whole, and that the Lord will no longer acknowledge our sins once we have truly repented and committed to living the standards that He has set for us. I know that Thomas S. Monson is a true prophet of the Lord and that he receives divine revelation from Heavenly Father to help us live our lives more like the Savior. The gospel will bring so much comfort into every one of our lives if we make the decision to live it whole heartedly, and I have seen this first hand. At times I felt like I was alone, but in those weak moments, I have physically felt the Savior's arms around me, comforting me, helping me know that I am never alone. I know that I have a purpose on this earth, and that I was sent here for a reason. I am dedicated to following Jesus Christ's example for the rest of my life, through being a better mother, wife, sister, daughter, and friend. I love this gospel and am so grateful every day for the guidance and joy that it brings me.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being a good friend and helping others. I have always found service to be one of the best ways to receive joy, and because of this, I love helping other people. I also love missionary work. Through the process of deciding to go on my mission and turning in my mission papers, I have found that every person that I meet is another opportunity for me to be a missionary. I love hearing from my friends and family who are currently serving missions, hoping that one day I can make that much of an impact on the lives of others. I love learning more about the gospel. I have found that there is always room to grow in the gospel; that there is always more to learn and that there are different ways that the teachings of the prophets can be applied into our lives. I live my faith by being a righteous daughter of my Heavenly Father. Making the decision every morning to follow the Savior and be an example to those around me has helped me immensely recently. I also love bearing my testimony. I have had so many testimonies impact my life and I hope that my testimony will do that too. I love helping others grow and come to know of the Savior and the love that He has for each and every one of us.
