Hi I'm Tyler Rife

I have an adventurous spirit, I love music and people, I'm a Mormon

About Me

I was born and raised in the blessed land of Utah. I just like to have fun. I don't like sitting around doing nothing. I love hiking and exploring. I love talking and being around people. There are 8 of us in the family (Dad, Mom, 4 sisters, 1 brother) I hope that one day I can get married and have a family of my own. I love learning new things...even though I am usually not good at it. I like to think of myself as being creative. I like swimming and boating and being in the sun. I play piano, I started learning guitar and I want to learn the harmonica. I love music. I will listen to almost any kind of music as long as it is good! :) I am currently serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Leeds England. I graduated from High school last year and am hoping to go to University when I get back. I really really like nutella, and milk, and food in general.

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I a Mormon....? Well the first thing you could say is, it is because I was raised a Mormon, which was an impact but that is not at all why I am a Mormon. The Book of Mormon says this "We invite all men everywhere to read the Book of Mormon, to ponder in their hearts the message it contains, and then to ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ if the book is true. Those who pursue this course and ask in faith will gain a testimony of its truth and divinity by the power of the Holy Ghost." Well that is true for everyone...even if you were raised a Mormon. I had to find out for myself if the Church was true, if the Book of Mormon was true, if Joseph Smith was a prophet called of God. I needed to find out for myself. I messed up, I made mistakes, I was going down the completely wrong path and opposite of the way I was supposed to be going. I told myself I was happy, I told other people I was happy, I looked like I was happy, but it was all a mask...I was miserable, I ached and I felt sick inside. I knew I wasn't doing the right things but I didn't know what to do. What I wanted the most was to be happy. I fell to my knees and asked my Father in Heaven for forgiveness and help. I told him I messed up bad. I didn't think that He would help me. But how wrong was I. I felt my Saviors love and I was forgiven. This was just the beginning of me becoming Mormon. I then read the Book of Mormon and prayed about it, again I received an answer. I am Mormon because I found out for myself and honestly I am still finding out, I am still growing and asking my Heavenly Father if it is true. I am still becoming converted. But I know what I felt. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the true Church, I know the Book of Mormon is true and that Joseph Smith was a prophet called of God. I know that we can always be forgiven no matter what. That we have a loving Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ who love us. I know this is true. I am a Mormon!

How I live my faith

Christ taught by example, he served, loved, and did everything he could to help the people. Christ has said "Come follow me"...that call is to do as he did. We try to be like Jesus in how we act, how we treat people, serve people, and love people, not by how many scriptures we have memorized. I try and do as Christ did, although I am not good at it whatsoever. I love serving others. In my opinion, at the end of the day, if I can truly say I have helped someone than I can go home feeling good. I can know that I have tried my best to accept Christ's invitation to follow him and that is all he asks of us is to try our hardest. I am very imperfect and have A LOT to work on, but I know that as long as I am trying my hardest even if it is putting a smile on my face and saying "hello" to someone new I can be happy. That is how one lives their faith...not by the things you know but the things you do. I love being able to help and do good in the world and at the same time have fun. Honestly I am still a kid and will always be a kid, it is fact in my life. But having fun adds so much more. When you go do something for another person, whether it is yard work, or just visiting...it needs to be with your whole heart. My mom always said "a job worth doing is worth doing right" I agree 100% with that. When doing something you have to give it your all and give it your personality as well. Always have fun and be an example to those around you.
