Hi I'm Phoebe

I grew up in about 11 different places in these United States. I love to travel, love to learn, and love to explore! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've recently finished my freshman year of college and am now serving an LDS mission! I currently spend my time spreading what I know about Jesus Christ with the people of Kentucky, but before I left on my mission you could probably find me studying at BYU, supervising adults with disabilities, drawing, writing, trying a new song on my beautiful guitar, or getting lost somewhere outdoors. I love to embrace the familiar and the comfortable, but my life's not complete if I'm not trying something new.

Why I am a Mormon

As the daughter of a man with an incredibly unstable job, I've moved from home to home so frequently I've stopped counting. Anyone who's familiar with this kind of lifestyle is also familiar with the myriad of trials it can bring! For me, losing my home every couple of years was incredibly difficult. I've had to put hundreds of miles between treasured friends, loving family, and beautiful places time and time again. One specific move was particularly hard, and I found my spirits dipping much lower than usual. It was then, when I was hurting the most and seeking comfort, that I realized my most important truth: when all else is lost, Jesus Christ is there. He picked me up and showed me the sweet and divine happiness of the true gospel as taught by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Now I know that despite where I go and regardless of what I leave behind, I still have everything. Faith--my most treasured possession--can never be taped in a box and lost in transit. It brings me true happiness, and that is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I love my faith and strive to live it every day! I exercise this faith my sharing my knowledge of Jesus Christ with everyone around me. I also spend time every day studying the words of God and analyzing what I can do to become a better disciple of Christ. Living this way has brought me more sweetness and joy than anything else, and I become excited at every chance I receive to increase my faith and understanding.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Phoebe
Near the end of Jesus Christ's ministry, he suffered in the Garden of Gethsemane and on the cross in order to atone for our sins. Our Savior felt the weight and pain associated with all of our mistakes, but loved us enough to pay the heavy price to save us. He was the only individual qualified to atone for the sins of the world, and thanks to his sacrifice, we may repent of our sins and return to him again. The Atonement is such an incredible gift that there are no words to fully capture its significance, but it is central to Heavenly Father's plan for His children and will bring lasting happiness to those who use the Atonement to come closer to Christ.
