Hi I'm Ed Smyth

I grew up in California and I'm married with four daughters. I practice anesthesiology. I live in Colleyville, TX. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

After growing up in California where I graduated from high school, I attended Brigham Young University and also spent time doing missionary work in Northern Italy. After graduating from BYU, I went to medical school in Saint Louis. Upon completion of medical school, I served in the United States Navy as a Flight Surgeon and was stationed with a Marine Corps helicopter squadron serving in such places and theatres as San Diego, CA, Pensacola, FL, Jacksonville, NC, Operation Desert Storm, the aircraft carrier Uss Guam. After the completion of my naval service, I continued my specialty training in Anesthesiology. I got married and have had four daughtes and enjoy being a Dad as challenging as that may be.I currently practice anesthesiology professionally. I enjoy spending time with my family, ancient scripture study including the appochrapha and pseudopigrapha, geneology and investing studies. My favorite sport to play is tennis and I enjoy bike riding and water and snow skiing when circumstances allow.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of the beautiful doctrines of the restored gospel. Jesus turly is the Christ and our only means by which we can make it back to live with our Father in Heaven. It is the Savior's example that helps us accurately navigate this life along with his church that contains his gospel which has been restored again to the earth in it's fullness. I have received an answer from our Heavenly Father that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is that church and furthermore, I invite all to investigate the doctrines of the Savior's restored chuch and seek the truth for themselves through sincere study and prayer. Please don't miss the opportunity to read The Book of Mormon and pray about it's truthfullness. It will change your life as it did mine. I bear testimony that Jesus is the Christ and the church of Jesus Christ has been restored to the earth and is led by a prophet and apostles as in days of old. You can also gain this same assurance of truth through the means of to a loving Heavenly Father that wants you to have this same knowledge.

How I live my faith

I spend a fair amount of time with church activities and help out in a leadership and teaching role in helping provide service to those in the congregation as well as in the community at large. We organize members of the congregation in various projects in order to maximize our service efforts, hoping always to emulate the perfectly charitable example of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. As we read in the scriptures: "And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom; that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God." and "Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me." Life's journey is about stripping ourselves of the impurites and the selfishness of this life. One of my great goals is to follow the directives in the following New Testament scripture: "4.Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. 5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; 6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; 7. And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. 8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
