Hi I'm Kolton Larsen

I was born and raised in Utah. I grew up loving and playing sports. I am serving in Mexico for my mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up and still live in Utah. I am a recent graduate from the High School Class of 2014. I have lived my whole life around sports, I am a huge sports fan. I love going to college football games with my family and friends, we have had season tickets for almost 10 years. I played baseball on the High School baseball team and got to experience two region championships while on the team. Now that I'm done with baseball, I just like to enjoy the outdoors and have fun. I love going on hikes and an very lucky to be living next to the Rocky Mountains! I live in a family of five. I have one older brother and one older sister. I have two dogs, I love them both to death and have gotten to grow up with one of my dogs who is now 14. It's amazing how time flies. Qualities I would describe about me are that I simply care about everyone. I will always try my best to please everyone and make everyone happy, this is a quality I get from my parents, most of my qualities I get from my parents, they truly raised me the right way. I would also describe myself as hard working and determined. I will never quit, I will do my absolute best to succeed. I am a very honest person, I'm a terrible liar so I don't lie. And the last thing I want to say about me is that I'm a very happy person. I just try my best to find the great things of the world and be happy.

Why I am a Mormon

Life isn't always easy, its confusing and sometimes you just feel lost, not knowing what paths you should take. I grew up in this church but at the age of 12, things started to get hard for my family. Soon before I knew it, I slowly watched some of my family members slip away from going to church and me being a child at the time, I followed them because I didn't have a testimony for myself just yet, I only went to church at the time because my family did. For the next 5 years of my life I would go to church every now and then but I just felt lost and confused. But something that never changed about me was I continued to live the gospel and I continued to try my best to follow the gospel to the knowledge that I had of it. When I went to seminary, my life started to change, I found myself going to church more but it still wasn't consistent, it wasn't until junior year in high school that my life changed for the best. I had met some new people, made new friends and with the help of my two closest friends, I started going to church with their families. The more I went the stronger my testimony grew and it wasn't long that I had a strong enough testimony to go to church by myself. Why would I tell you all this? We have such a great impact on the others around us, we should always try our best to be examples to them because you never know whose life you can change! I am a Mormon today because I have great friends who led me back to this gospel. I am a Mormon because this church is true happiness, it is where we are supposed to be and it is where all your questions will be answered. This is God's true church on the planet today, we have living prophets that communicate with God and lead us down the paths we need to take. I am a Mormon, and I am going to be a Mormon forever. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

I live my faith everyday by trying to be an example to others. I do my best to live gospel everyday, I do my best to be as loving as possible to everyone no matter their beliefs or personalities. I am currently serving my mission in Merida, Mexico. Every day I have the opportunity to serve others and try my best to live and be like Jesus Christ. I live my faith by living the faith I believe in. I try my best to live all the commandments and principles of the gospel and when I slip up, which everyone does because no one is perfect, I repent of the mistakes which I had made. Everyday I make sure to pray to Heavenly Father, study the scriptures and every week I attend church. So how do I live my faith? My answer is in the question, I live my faith. I try to live my beliefs, I try to do all that I can to follow the example that Jesus Christ set while he lived personally on the Earth.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Kolton Larsen
Missionaries proselyte because our whole purpose and our whole desires is to share the Gospel to the world and helps others to come unto Christ. We missionaries just want others to experience the same happiness that we get to experience everyday by living this Gospel and we missionaries just want to help and serve others. Through prosyleting, we can find opportunities to teach and to do service. Missionaries dont only teach the Gospel but they serve. Through all of this we find people to teach and we can help others come unto Christ which is our whole purpose. Show more Show less

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

Kolton Larsen
We are normal people with normal lives. We all have our personal likes and dislikes and we all are free to choose how we want to live our lives. But mormons live according to the principles of the Gospel found in the scriptures and taught by our modern day prophets. We live these principles because they are principles that lead us to eternal happiness and guide us to one day to be able to return to our Loving Heavenly Father. Now of course no person is perfect and we all make mistakes, we believe that we can repent of our mistakes and part of repentance is making changes to our lives to act in accordance to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Every day we are trying to improve as people and try to become more like Christ. Our whole purpose is to become and live like Christ. This is why we like to serve so much. Christ is the best example we have of service. We mormons love to do service and any chance we get to serve, we will take that opportunity to serve. Not because we are trying to get recognition or trying to get others to join our church, but we do service to help others and to show our love for others. So yes, we do have some different principles compared to other churches but we believe these principles lead us to eternal happiness and we try every day to live these principles. But at the same time, we are normal people who have normal families and normal conversations. Show more Show less

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon temples? What goes on in Mormon temples?

Kolton Larsen
A temple is a sacred house of the Lord. In the temples we perform sacred ordinances that can only be performed in the temples. These ordinances will stay with us for all time and eternity so it is very important that we are worthy and prepared to enter into the temple. This is why we need a recommend and we have to renew our recommends every year. We need to be worthy of these ordinances, we need to be worthy to enter into the house of the Lord. Show more Show less
