Hi I'm Ashley

I have grown up in the beautiful Northwest. I am also an avid reader. I am a convert to the LDS church. I am Mormon.

About Me

You know I kind of hate these "About Me" columns because whenever I have to write in it i think how boring I am! But here goes. I have a ridiculous love of reading that has taken me on many adventures and through many lifetimes. All time favorite book is The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. Ifyou get nothing else from this profile please read that book!! My favorite thing to do is to be with family and friends or just people in general. I pride myself on not being someone who can be dissuaded or taken for a fool. My education is something that is extremely important to me and am working toward becoming a dental hygienist. The LDS church and my family are my number one priorities.

Why I am a Mormon

I converted to the church in August of 2006 with my mom, dad, and younger brother. Before this I was a practicing Roman Catholic. I even attended Catholic schools for the bulk of my education. I tell you this so you can understand that I had a religious background and thought I knew who the big man upstairs was. I understood that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ were my father and savior but still they scared me. I felt like if I did one thing wrong on my entire life, which lets be honest I screw up on a daily basis, I was headed straight to Satan's old hot box if you know what I mean. Outside of this I saw nothing wrong with my religion. My mom on the other hand did. She began to take discussions with the missionaries. Now when they first started coming over I pretty much hated them! I mean come on I heard about these guys who can't drink delicious carbonated beverages and if rumor was to be believed satanic worshippers (how I leaped to Satan worshippers from non soda drinkers I will never understand). So to make my displeasure known I would stomp around whenever they were over. Even being so daring as to storm past them while they were giving discussions and bang around in the kitchen. Slowly though I began to listen in the hallway until finally I sat down with my brother and mom to listen. everything they taught me made sense, when I say this Im not exaggerating. Even though I was only eleven I had had a large dose of what people like to call life. You could say I had circumstances in my time that made me question why I was here, even at that age. The first time I went to church I felt the spirit. So much that I wanted to be baptized that very day. I felt as if everything clicked, I understood why I was here at this time with my family. I still understand my purpose. Not a lot of people can say that nowadays. I believe in this church. I KNOW it is the truth and I pray that while you read this you will feel my certainty. I cannot stress it enough.

How I live my faith

Currently I am preparing to serve a mission in Utah. (I know "Isn't it all mormon already?". I can assure you its not). I am extremely excited for this opportunity and cannot wait to get out there and preach the gospel. I want to bring the same happiness I have received to others. Before that i was The President of Luarals, which just meant I was in charge of the girls 16 to 18 years old. I live my faith by attending church meetings and going to the temple with my family.
