Hi I'm Andrew

I'm a music lover, future BYU Cougar, and I'm a Mormon Missionary.

About Me

Hi! I'm Andrew and I'm a Mormon. I'm currently serving as a missionary in the Oregon Salem Mission until July 2016, and I wouldn't rather be anywhere else. Christ has always seemed to be in my life, and I've seen Him bless me and my family through everything we've gotten the chance to go through. Because of it, family is the most important thing I have, and I love to be with them and just have fun. I am the oldest and youngest of one kid, and spent all of 18 years before mission in Utah Valley, really close to all of my extended family. Basically the same neighborhood, so we're super close in basically every way. I started on the piano when I was six years old from my mom, and still love to play anything from radio to classical. I also love basketball and football, especially if Brigham Young University is involved. I love the color blue, my ears don't match, and I love all types of food!

Why I am a Mormon

When I was younger I knew that being in the church made me happy, and that the things I was hearing and doing were right. You'll find love nowhere as strong than in a God-sealed family in a Christ centered home. I once leaned on my parents testimonies of the gospel and the church for a long time, and it took a while but Im now rooted to my own ground that Christ is the Savior, and that this is His gospel and the way to be lastingly, deeply happy and at peace. I know it because I'm living it, and if you tell me otherwise or that it's wrong, I will not believe you. I've found the Book of Mormon to be the greatest tool for learning of and becoming like Christ, and that Joseph Smith is a prophet, because I've asked for a long time, and He continues to tell me over and over again that it's right. I'm a Mormon because I want to be with my family and friends forever as part of Gods family, and actually can be because we have Gods permission and priesthood power to be sealed as a family. My mom and dad and I have been sealed, and because of it, I get to be with them, and the rest of my family, and future family, forever. I love being a missionary and a member of Gods church. There's nothing better!

How I live my faith

I live and love my faith by trying to help others discover and strengthen theirs as a missionary. Over the past year and a half, I've discovered that actually being happy means constantly trying to be more and more like Christ, and that means helping others come closer to Him as well. I walk the streets of Oregon, and share what I've learned from Heavenly Father through the Holy Ghost, that living in Christ's way is the good life, and that it prepares us to be with our God and family for forever. I love being a missionary even though it's hard, because I get to see the world through God's eyes, and love these people.

What do Mormons believe about the nature of God?

We believe that God, or Heavenly Father, is the father of our spirits, and wanted us to grow in character to become like Him. He loves you more than we can even think of, and so he gave us this opportunity to come get a body like He has, and to go through our 70 or 80 years, learning how to love others like Christ amid all the distractions that we have. We can't go back to him unclean after we die, so God provided a Savior, His son Jesus Christ, a separate person from himself, to take our punishment, so we can move on from our sins. He loves us so much he gives us commands, to not earn our way to heaven, but to learn to be heavenly. The Holy Ghost, still a spirit, comes in the place of God and Christ to us, to comfort us and let us know we are His family, His children, that we are His. God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy, are separate beings. But in every other way, are one. Purpose, mind, truth, you name it. Show more Show less
