Why do Mormons perform proxy baptisms in their temples?

Brennan
We believe that God is just. So to make it fair to those who did not receive word or get baptized, we believe those in the next life will have an opportunity to receive the gospel and accept or decline it. Now some ordinances have to be preformed like baptism. So we believe in baptisms for the dead in which we preform in our temples. This does not mean they are baptized without the choice. The dead can accept or deny any work that's been done for them here on the Earth Show more Show less
