Hi I'm Elder Rice

I am a friend, and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am a missionary serving in the Virginia area right now, and I am grateful for the opportunity to serve everyone. I love to look for ways to brighten other people's days and make this world a better place. Every day we are inviting people to come closer to Christ, and I can't think of a better and more fun thing to do. In high school I was able to be a percussionist and I loved hanging out with my friends. I love my family, and am making friends everyday serving the Lord.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I've felt the spirit. This comes through reading the Book of Mormon, praying, loving those around me, and a few other things. I have read the Book of Mormon a few times, and I know that it is the most true book that I have ever read. When I read the Book of Mormon for my first time I read the promise in Moroni 10 to ask if these things are true. I got an answer in the form of a feeling saying, "How can these things not be true?" I know that through this answer that Joseph Smith received his answer and that everything in the book was true. Because of all this, that means that Jesus is the Christ and that Thomas S. Monson is the Prophet. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the most true church on the earth, and that is why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by acting on it everyday. Understanding and reading the scriptures is an act of faith in itself. Anytime you are following God's commandments is an act of faith. It grows stronger the more you do it, just like a muscle. You keep growing every day!

Who are the Mormons?

Elder Rice
So Mormons are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. We are members of the same church that Jesus Christ established while He was here on the earth. The word Mormon comes from a book that we read called the Book of Mormon Show more Show less

Why is authority to perform a baptism important?

Elder Rice
Authority is important because there are so many people out there who are choosing what is right and what is wrong. All of us are given to know what is right and that is true. But a prophet of God is given the commandments of God to be given to us. These commandments aren't restrictions, but they are ways that we can be happy, and Heavenly Father what will make us the most happy. We just need to follow Him. That authority to help us know this was given through Jesus Christ to His apostles. Those apostles appeared to Joseph Smith, and is passed down through the church today. We need Jesus Christ's authority to baptize. I know that this authority is real because I've felt it in my own life. Show more Show less

What is the priesthood?

Elder Rice
The Priesthood is the power and authority for man to act in God's name for the salvation of His children. Heavenly Father gave us prophets with that priesthood authority to guide God's kingdom here on the earth. The Church is led by this authority and the Priesthood is what distinguishes the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints from any other church here on the earth because this is Christ's church and not a church that has been made by man. I love being an instrument in God's hands, and I know that when we are doing the right thing, Heavenly Father rejoices, and when we weep God weeps. He is here for us, and so He gave us prophets Show more Show less
