Hi I'm Spencer Freebairn

I'm a tech geek. I love the outdoors. I'm tough enough. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Tech is my thing. I love learning about new products, tearing old ones apart (sometimes new), and of course, using them. I love diving into and fine tuning all the settings. If I catch you throwing any tech away, be it a keyboard from the 80's or a key fob, I won't get mad at you; I'll just sneak it out of the trash when you aren't watching. I also love learning all about the way technology works. I'll spend hours researching things such as wireless networking protocols, data compression, the work of pioneers like Claude E. Shannon, etc. This passion has gone beyond a hobby and into the beginning of a career. I am now a certified computer technician (CompTIA A+ Certification) and hope to continue in the computer science field. I also have a deep love for the great outdoors. Running through the woods, climbing trees, sleeping under trees, hanging from trees (in a hammock), mountain biking, boating, hiking. You name it, I love it! Of course, I don't enjoy doing this alone. I've been doing these activities with the young men in my congregation and my family for years. It is such a blast to experience the greatness of nature with people you love!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because doing so brings so many blessings into my life! First of all, understanding my purpose on Earth brings great peace. I know that I am a son of God, and a brother of Jesus Christ. I am here to learn and grow, and to become more like Christ. I will make mistakes, that is part of the plan God has for us. These mistakes, sins, prevent us from returning to His presence. However, if we repent, and have faith that Jesus Christ's act of selfless love can save us, we can return. As I said previously, this knowledge brings great peace to me. I do not have to worry about the things of this world. This feeling of peace comes through another great blessing of living the Gospel. The companionship of the Holy Ghost. If I follow God's commandments, I can have the Holy Ghost with me at all times. The Holy Ghost is God's way of communicating with me. He can comfort, guide, warn, teach me, and testify of truth. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, I know I am guided by men called of God wo have his authority. Following the council of the prophet and the apostles brings light and truth into my life, and makes the world less confusing. The greatest blessing of being a Mormon is the knowledge that families can live together in God's presence forever. While the death of a loved one is tragic, one can be comforted by remembering that they will see their loved one again. All of these blessings and an incomprehensible number of more come through faith in the Lord's gospel.

How I live my faith

As a representative of Jesus Christ, I have the responsibility to share his love with others. I enjoy passing people with a smile, or giving the cashier a warm "hello" to brighten their day. I try to look at people more like Christ would. I try my best to remember that I do not fully understand their situation; I try to have Christ-like love toward them no matter what. This has really blessed my life! When people act rudely toward me, or another person, it doesn't bother me as much. I sort of brush it off. I have become more easy-going. When people make a mistake on my order, it really isn't a big deal. Just like Christ understands all of the pain and trials we go through I understand the feeling of making a mistake; I have made many of my own!
