Hi I'm Mark

I am an Australian, married with a wonderful wife and 4 grown children who I am proud of. I am a retired management consultant.

About Me

I am qualified civil engineer who has worked in water resource management for over thirty years. I became a consultant 12 years ago and co-authored a text book on water resource planning. I enjoy learning, reading, outdoor activities such as camping and bushwalking, and service through our church. My family is the major focus of my life. I am blessed to be able to spend a lot of time with my wife. Though my four children and all grown up and married, I still have a strong relationship with them, and my grandchildren.

Why I am a Mormon

I was baptized a member of the Mormon church when I was fourteen and have remained an active member since. From my childhood I believed in the existence of a loving God, and I recognised in the doctrines and teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints that same God. I have no doubt that it is the Church of Jesus Christ, having his authority and the fulness of His Gospel. The members including myself make mistakes and have flaws, but the eternal doctrines are divine and in totality are unique in the world. My faith is built on my commitment to Jesus Christ, to trust Him, and do my best to do His work and keep His commandments. I have continually learned and come to know Him and my Heavenly Father better and better through being taught and changed by the Spirit of God, as I have prayed, studied and served. I am a lifelong student of the Bible, Book of Mormon and other scriptures and continue to learn great things as I ponder and study them. The great plan of happiness of my Heavenly Father built around the Saviour Jesus Christ is the centre of my learning and faith, and this is explained more clearly in the Book of Mormon than anywhere else.

How I live my faith

I love my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, and love to serve them through serving my family, people at church and others in the broader community. I have been a lay minister for many years, and have spent many years working with youth. I am pleased to soon be able to serve a volunteer 18 month mission with my wife for our church in South East Asia delivering humanitarian aid and teaching the gospel where this is lawfully allowed.
