Hi I'm Haleigh-Kate Anderson

My name is Haleigh-Kate Anderson. I grew up in Snowflake, Arizona. I am an Airman in the United States Air Force. I am a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Haleigh-kate. I have been singing and performing for most of my life. Eventually my performing led me to be able to compete in a local pagent in the Miss America Organization. I won the pageant and was able to compete for the title of Miss Arizona in the year on 2013. Even though I did not win that title, I had a lot of fun, and I gained wonderful friends and life skills from the experience. About 6 months later, my life took a turn and took me to a place I never thought I'd be, which was joining the US military. After several months of prayer, research, and consideration, I chose to join the US Air Force. After about 2 months of making that decision, I took the oath and swore in as an American Airman on May 7th, 2014. It has already been a rewarding experience, and I know God told me "no" so that he could say "yes" when I finally figured out the best place for me. I am currently awaiting my job assignment, and to find out when I leave for Basic Military training and Technical School. I will be training in San Antonio, Texas, and I am hoping to be a linguist for the military, and eventually be a prosecutor in Air Force JAG. I am very blessed and thankful for such a wonderful opportunity.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into this church. I had a family that taught me well, and never over sheltered me, and always let me know that it was okay to have questions, and to make mistakes because it is simply human to do so. They taught me well, and I have a strong understanding of the gospel because of them. However, that never stopped me from having my doubts. A short time ago, I fell away from the church, and I stopped following the teachings of the church. For a while, I was happy, but that happiness was short lived, and I really started to see that my life was in a dark place. A lady from the ward I'm currently in, who I've known for several years, invited me to come to church one night, she was very persistent and I agreed to come to the singles ward the following Sunday. It took a couple of weeks, but I tried to come every Sunday, and I finally realized I needed to change. Coming to church, letting the light of our Heavenly Father, our Savior, Jesus Christ and his gospel back into my life, and taking advantage of the Atonement was the best decision I have ever made. That lady doesn't know, and she did not know where I was in my life at the time, but I will forever be grateful to that kind sister for inviting me to church. I am a Mormon because I have lived without that light in my life, and I have seen the other side, and I was unhappy. My relationship with my Heavenly Father is the only thing that brings true happiness, I have a testimony of that. And even though I am nowhere near perfect, I am loved by Him. And that is all I need.

How I live my faith

Due to switching wards recently, I have yet to serve in a calling at the moment. I live my faith by always being kind to others, and making it known to others that I am a Mormon, so that if they have questions, they can ask. I have been able to help many people come to a better understanding about this wonderful gospel. I try to stay knowledgeable about the church, so that I can always provide an answer to any sort of question. And of course, I try to be the best example I can to everyone, but especially my non-member friends, so that they can see the light of Christ through me, and have a good impression about members of the church. I also do my best to love EVERYONE. With so much controversy and contension over the beliefs of others in this world today, there is too much hatred and judgement, and not enough love. The fact is, God did not tell us to judge anyone, but He did tell us to LOVE everyone. And that is exactly what I try to do.
