Hi I'm Lorraine

I grew up in Washington, I love everything to do with music, I am a missionary in Santiago, Chile, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a student at Brigham Young University. I am majoring in music education and want to be an elementary school music teacher someday. I am taking an 18 month vacation from school to go on a mission! I have been called to serve in the Chile, Santiago East mission. I love music and the spirit it invites. Singing hymns is one of my favorite things to do. I have 6 older siblings and wonderful parents. I love my family and feel so blessed to know that I can live with them again. I grew up in Washington State and because of that, I love the rain! I moved to Utah when I was 16 and I still miss the rain dearly. I am so excited to serve my Heavenly Father while I am on my mission. I hope that I can draw closer to Him as I serve.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it makes me happy. I have had a lot of moments in my life that I look back on and wonder why I wasn't depressed. By the standards of the world, I should have been sad. I went through difficult things that a teenager shouldn't have to go through. I sometimes felt alone and abandoned. But when I would remember that my Savior, Jesus Christ, was watching over me, everything became brighter. Suddenly I knew why I was going through that trial. The pain was not taken away immediately. But I was able to work through my trials and find refuge in the scriptures. I have siblings who have decided not to follow the commandments of the gospel, and because of that they have had unhappy lives. They are filled with sorrow and my heart yearns for them to understand how to be happy again. I know that someday they will realize that the only way to feel joy, complete and utter happiness, is through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I want to share the knowledge I have with everyone in the world, that is why I am serving a mission. I believe everyone should know what I know! Sometimes I get so excited I could just shout with joy! I love being a Mormon. I cannot imagine what my life would be like if I didn't have the rock of the gospel to cling to in times of trial. I want to always be steadfast and immovable with my testimony of the gospel. I know these things are true, because I have asked for myself. I know that my Savior lives and that He loves me. And to me, that is the most important thing anyone can know.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith daily by following His footsteps. I try to listen to one talk from our prophet and apostles every morning to set the spirit of my day. I teach the 5 year old primary class and love it! I feel so blessed to teach these young children who have such a desire to learn. It has been a great preparation for my mission! I love attending the Temple. The strength that comes from going to the Temple is incredible! I feel so much happier after going and am grateful for the opportunity. I try to be better everyday. Some days are hard, but I know that if I work hard to come unto my Savior, that I will lead a happier life!
