Hi I'm Chance Johnson

I grew up in Arizona. I have prepared to be a firefighter. I ride motorcycles, play racquetball, and snow ski. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Arizona where there is great weather and lots of space to play. I like riding motorcycles in the desert and in the mountains. As well I play soccer, wrestled, ran cross country, wakeboard, snow ski, shoot guns and play racquetball. From the time I was young I wanted to serve a mission. I set a goal to pay for it on my own. To earn money for my mission I did three things 1st I started a business selling candy, 2nd Early in the mornings before school I would clean a business complex, 3rd while I was younger I mowed lawns in my neighborhood. When I get off my mission I want to be a fire fighter. To give me a head start towards this goal I completed two years of fire fighter training while in high school. This training was exciting, exhilarating and intense. It taught me to persevere when times get hard and never give up.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I believe in my loving Savors atoning sacrifice. I Love my Savior and feel his love around me everyday.

How I live my faith

I just graduated from high school and am preparing to serve a two year mission in Tacoma Washington. While in high school I went to the EVIT program the second half of my day and trained to become a Fire Fighter. I really enjoyed this training. I was able to use the Jaws of life to rip open a car to free a victim. I also was able to repel down a mountain in preparation for search and rescue mission. I practiced extinguishing fires. I also practices entering a building totally engulfed in flames so I would understand what it is like to be in the middle of a fire. I practiced rescuing victims. It was really rewarding. One of the things I learned from this training is that while Fire Fighters saves lives in fires they more frequently saves lives on medical calls or at car accidents. A lot of what a fire fighter does is serve in their community and provide medical back up for the police. I loved serving with the other Cadets in my community. One of my favorite places to serve was a food bank for homeless families. I gathered the food and personal hygiene supplies and gave them to the families. Some of the people were living out of cars, or a grocery cart, or just a back pack. When I would hand the food to the mothers they would get tears in their eyes. It really choked me up and I was so grateful to give in such a small way. I am excited to serve a two year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I hope to serve a humble service oriented mission.
