Hi I'm Austin

I am not perfect, but I have a good time. I am a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Austin and I am currently serving a mission in the California Fresno Mission, Spanish speaking.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church. I cant remember when we started going to church but my mom is a convert. My dad was an inactive member of the church but because of my mom, he is reactivated. I am a Mormon because of all that the Lord does for me. I have been blessed and see his hand in my life daily. This religion is not just a religion, it is a lifestyle. I used to think that all the standards and expectations that the chrch had were restrictions on me and were holding me back for experiencing and enjoying life here on Earth. As I grew older, I began to realize how much these standards and expectaions have blessed me. They are no longer restrictions, but guardrails against the evil things in the world. I love this gospel and am grateful to have grown up in it, because I know that I am the person that I am today because of it.

How I live my faith

One way that I live my faith is by attending church every week and listening to the speakers and the lessons that the are being taught. I have the oppurunity each week to go to church and hear the counsel that the Lord has for me. There are times in life where I can go to church and feel at peace because I know that it is the place that I need to be and I am being taught the right things.

What is being a Mormon like?

For awhile, I used to think that being a Mormon was really difficult and that it held me back from fun, and being able to be "cool". I hated that people knew I was a Mormon because they made jokes about how I couldn't do certain things and such. But, I have come to learn that being a Mormon is a blessing and not a burden. I have certain standards that others may not understand, but because of those standards, I can live a better life. I am grateful that I know that there is a God and that He loves me and is cheering for me. Show more Show less

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

All my church life I have been told that serving is a mission is something that I will evcentually do. I had a really hard time my senior year thinking about a mission because it was starting to seem real. In a year from that time, I would be on a plane to who knows where for TWO YEARS! I have heard how hard a mission is and I was scared that it would be too much for me. But, I know that it is the right thing to do. There are people out in the world today who don't know what I know, who don't know why they are here on Earth, who don't know that they have a loving Heavenly Father. I want people to feel the joy that I do, and one way I can do that is by serving a mission. Show more Show less
