Hi I'm Daniel

I grew up in Washington State. I love to exercise and cook. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I love to surf when I get the chance, though in Washington it's really cold. I wrestled in high school and still love to wrestle with my friends. I'm just about to serve a full-time mission in Lisbon, Portugal and I'll report to the MTC on July 9(so exciting!). Afterwards, I plan on going to college and I'm stuck between wanting to be a math teacher or be an animator.

Why I am a Mormon

My mom and sister are not LDS and they had left the church quite some time ago. So, I would go to church with my dad, and would also attend other churches with my mom. When i was 14 years old I wanted to know if the LDS church was the true church. I'd just finished reading about Alma (a prophet in the Book of Mormon) and Moses (a prophet in the Bible:Old Testament) and how they had truly amazing miracles and signs. So, I prayed to Heavenly Father and said, "If you show me a sign, then I'll believe." I set apart the time, read and pondered the scriptures, and then I knelt down in prayer. I prayed for a few hours, but of course, there was no angel on high, nor bush on Sinai. I went to bed, felling rather discouraged and unsure on what to do next. The next day, I wasn't doing anything particularly grand or spiritual, I was just cleaning the house, when I suddenly felt this overwhelming sense of peace and reassurement. During that moment I felt the Holy Ghost testify to me that the gospel was true, that Heavenly Father loved me, and that the Church of Jesus Christ was the true church. I felt so happy that I wanted to, share that feeling of happiness with others, which is why I have decided to go and serve a full-time mission. I have since then had many experiences where I have felt the Spirit, but that was the first, and it was the beginning of my truly developing a testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel. No angel, nor pillar of fire could have testified of that truth more powerfully or with more meaning than the Holy Spirit did at that moment.

How I live my faith

I used to teach a group of very fun 6-yearolds at my home ward. I loved to come up with fun games we could play as i taught them about the gospel. Then, I moved to a ward specifically for young single adults and I got to teach a group of men about the gospel (which was WAY different, but still fun). While I was teaching, I would also go out with missionaries and talk to people about the gospel. I loved to do it, because I saw that as I spoke to these people, I could feel that Heavenly Father truly loved them, that he cares and has a plan for each and every one of us. Now, I'm getting ready to serve a mission in Portugal!
