Hi I'm McKayla

I play soccer for Utah State University. I'm serving a mission in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The church is true. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently serving and sharing the gospel with the people of Philadelphia and couldn't be happier! I have played soccer for my whole life and love being active. I enjoy anything that has to do with nature. I also love to sing and do all kinds of art projects. I am the oldest of three and I am going to school to become an elementary teacher.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of the church since I was born, and I've known from a young age that it is the true church. However, it wasn't until I left for college and was on my own that I realized how much I truly love the gospel. Being on my own I didn't have anyone to constantly remind me to go to church or make me go. It was a choice that I had to make for myself. There were times that I was tired and waking up early was the last thing I wanted to do. I would sleep in and not go to church. After a couple weeks of rocky church attendance I began to notice a charge in my life. I wasn't living according to my standards and I felt an emptiness and lack of fulfillment. The light was missing in my life. I decided to return to church and try to live a better life. Although it was hard at first, I began to enjoy getting to go every Sunday and learn more about my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. Since then I have never regretted going to church or fulfilling my calling because the spirit felt is even better than sleeping in. (Coming from college student that is a big deal). Receiving my mission call was an even greater testament to me that the church is true. I was called to the perfect mission for me and the spirit I've felt since receiving my call as been a great witness to me. I love this gospel. I know for a surety that it is true. I am grateful to have been born into the church and to witness the blessings it brings. I can't wait to go out and share this light with everyone I possibly can. I love my Savior and my Father in Heaven. They know me and bless my life everyday. I know Joseph Smith restored the gospel for our day and that Jesus Christ atoned for my sins that I may return to live with Heavenly Father. I am grateful for the knowledge I have and the spirit that I can feel.

How I live my faith

I have been in leadership callings in all of the wards I've attended since I was 12 years old, and continue to be involved with my home ward youth often called to help with lessons or bear my testimony in class. In college I helped to teach my non-member roommate about the gospel and faithfully go to church on Sunday. I try to read as much as I can and hope to have read the Book of Mormon several times before I leave to Philadelphia, PN for my mission. I think the best way to be a good member of the church is just to be a good person. Love others, serve and live the gospel.

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

McKayla
As missionaries of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, our purpose is to bring others unto to Christ. We have many lessons about Jesus Christ, His teachings, our purpose in life, and where we will go when our life is over- but our main message is that we have a Father in Heaven who knows and loves each of us very much. We teach that through this love, we can become perfected and ultimately live with Him and our families again someday. The message we bring is one of hope, peace and understanding. Show more Show less
