Hi I'm Eliza Beth

I was born and raised in NSW Australia. I am about to serve a mission in the Australian Brisbane Mission. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am the fifth of six children raised by a single mother. We were raised in the gospel of Jesus Christ, but it wasn't until I was a teenager that I truly developed my own testimony and began my own personal conversion. My favourite hobby is creative writing, and I love reading and watching good movies (sometimes B grade ones too). When I don't like how a story ends I rewrite the ending In my head. I love playing video games on consoles. I studied both Children's Services and Communications and Media (with a journalism focus) at TAFE.

Why I am a Mormon

There are many reasons why I have remained a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Most of those reasons are incredibly personal and sacred to me, however I will share a few. Everything good that I have in my life, my very life itself, I owe to my Savior, Jesus Christ and my Father in Heaven. As with everyone else, I have my bad days, things rarely go according to plan and I often find that many things I want to work out simply don't. But through it all, when I am at my lowest, I can feel the special comfort that only the Holy Ghost can bring. I have felt what it is like to be so low that nothing has meaning and there doesn't seem to be any point to anything. But I have also felt the indescribable joy that comes with being lifted out of the pit of despair by the all consuming love of a heavenly family. There is nothing in this world that compares to the feeling of being so filled with the Holy Ghost and love of our Lord and our Heavenly Father that there isn't room for anything else. What's more, every time I embrace the guidance of my God and every small moment when I choose to let Him into my life I feel that taste of Heaven. I have asked my Heavenly Father if the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is His church, and I have received my answer. All it takes is study and a sincere pray with REAL intent, anyone reading this can find that answer too. I know that using the Atonement of Jesus Christ in my life will give me that chance to live with my family again, but to never be separated from them again for eternity. What else would I need to call it Heaven? Nothing is worth giving that up for. And that is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

At the moment I co-lead what is called 'Achievement Night' which is every second and fourth Tuesday of the month (during the school term), during the evening we meet with the 8-12 year olds and do activities and lessons to help them meet certain goals that they established. I am also a visiting teacher, which is where one of the other Sisters and I go visit some of the Sisters in our ward to see how they are doing, offer any assistance we can and give them a short (hopefully uplifting) message. Sometimes, when it is impossible to visit with them face to face during the month we talk with them on the phone or give them letters or emails. I love dropping cookies around with the message. Chocolate chip cookies are one of the few things I can bake from basic ingredients and it is a great feeling to be able to share that with my sisters in the gospel. Despite all that I have written in this space to this point, the easiest way to describe how I live my faith is to simply say that I am preparing to serve a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I have received my call letter and will fly out in August. A large part of this preparation has been attending appointments with the missionaries in my ward as often as circumstances allow, and having study sessions with them.
