Hi I'm Sierra

I'm a music student, a lover of the outdoors and ice cream. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a small town, working on my family's farm six miles away from my home. I loved growing up as a farm girl where I learned to love being outside, working hard, and spending time with the animals. Now I'm going to college studying Piano Pedagogy. I absolutely love every aspect of music and can't think of anything else I would rather do in my life. When I'm not practicing the piano or helping my family on the farm I enjoy hiking, running, swimming and anything else outside.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents, grandparents, and great grandparents are all Mormons. When I was a teenager I needed to know for myself if the things my parents had taught me were true. I had doubts on concepts I was taught and struggled accepting the idea that there was a God who loved me perfectly. I couldn't understand why a loving God would allow one of my family member to die prematurely. Why I was born with a birth defect that caused pain and insecurity. At one point I was convinced that there could not be a God, eternal life, eternal families and joy in this life. But, in the back of my mind I knew that there was something about going to church and reading the scriptures that made me feel good, so I continued pushing on. During this time of doubt I attended a meeting devoted entirely to the Atonement of Jesus Christ. It was here that the spirit confirmed so strongly to me that I did have a perfectly loving Heavenly Father. He loved me so much that he sent his only Begotten Son to DIE for me. The spirit testified to me how excruciatingly painful it was for the Savior to bleed from every pour, and then hang on the cross for my sins, weaknesses and inadequacies. I knew then that all of my pain and heartache I had experienced in my life could all be healed if I let the Atonement into my life and allow it to heal me. The words from a hymn came to my mind over and over again. "Jesus, the very thought of thee." I was overwhelmed and so deeply humbled that someone could die for me even though I would never be able to repay the debt. It was then that I knew I had to do everything in my power to become a disciple of Jesus Christ. This meant being an active member of his church. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

How I live my faith

I live in a college student community so I get to attend church every Sunday with other college students who live near me. I serve as a leader for the women I attend church with. This gives me the amazing opportunity to love, serve, and teach the girls around me. My favorite way to live my faith is to visit neighboring apartments and see how they are doing and how I can best serve them. When I do this I feel God's love for them and want to serve and love them like our Heavenly Father and our Savior Jesus Christ do.
