Hi I'm Samuel Holladay

I'm a film buff, a performer, and a goof. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

As my mother held me in her arms for the first time, my tiny hand clutched tightly around her finger, she looked right into my eyes and said, "I've made a huge mistake." No, I don't know if that's true. But, hey, I haven't heard otherwise, so... But I am the fifth of six children. I'm a recent graduate of Juab High School and am now serving in the Arizona Scottsdale mission. In high school, I became a theater geek (you know... one of THOSE kids) and have now performed in eleven plays/musicals and directed two. I even won the title of Utah Central Region's 2014 Speech and Drama Sterling Scholar. It's kind of a big deal (I hope Sunday school is about humility this week). I was also on the school's journalism staff, debate team, FBLA and YDA chapters, and I served as Sophomore Class President. My proudest high school accomplishment though is being crowned 2013-2014's Mr. Juab! I love movies, sitcoms (#SixSeasonsAndAMovie; where my Communies at??), and indie music. After my mission, I will attend the University of Utah, but my major is undeclared, because I'm afraid of commitment. Be warned, ladies.

Why I am a Mormon

Like many LDS members, I sometimes have questions and skepticism about the church. I cannot, however, deny the truth of the Book of Mormon. I cannot deny that we have a living prophet on the earth today. I know of the power Christ's atonement can have in our lives. I've felt the love of Christ and our Heavenly Father myself. When I think of these things and how I know the truth of them, my questions and doubts don't matter. The church is true.

How I live my faith

I am now serving as a full-time missionary in the Arizona Scottsdale mission. I search for people who have been prepared by our Heavenly Father to receive the message of the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ. In other words, I teach people about Mormonism all day, every day. I'm living the dream.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Samuel Holladay
The best, most important thing you can do to come to know Heavenly Father is to humbly kneel down and talk to Him through prayer. It's direct communication with God, and you can tell Him anything and everything on your mind, and He will always, always give an answer. Of course scripture reading and keeping the commandments will also teach you who God is, how He works, and what He can do for you. But I wouldn't end there. There's a lot more out there that can strengthen you spirit and testimony of Heavenly Father. Watch an inspiring movie, listen to uplifting music, have a meal with people you love, take a walk in your favorite place. The power and majesty of God is all around us if you let it in.
