Hi I'm Ron

I love being outdoors, exercising, traveling, meeting new people, great food, being a husband, dad, and grandpa. I am a Mormon!

About Me

I love to travel and have been blessed to have visited many parts of the world. I have walked on the great wall of China, have hiked the pyramids in Egypt, zip-lined over the rain forest in Costa Rica, and swam in the Dead Sea. All of this has given me a great love for God and his creations, especially his children. I am an outdoorsy person who likes to hike, ski, fish, and enjoy nature. I love technology, anything that has a plug or a battery in it...I am all over that. I love to cook with dutch ovens and I am famous for my dutch oven pizza and chocolate mud cake! I am a recently retired religion teacher of thirty four years and still love to teach. I love to work with my hands - to build, fix, or repair things. That is one of the reasons why I had my own electrical business in addition to my teaching. I am a finisher, and love to work hard and stay with a project until it is finished and done right. Out of all the things that I have done in my life, none have brought me more joy and happiness than my family. I am a very happy husband of thirty eight years, a father of eight wonderful children, and a grandfather to twenty four grandchildren. My family has made everything else worth doing.

Why I am a Mormon

I love my faith and my church! No church that I have ever be acquainted with does as much for families as my church does...and family is everything to me. My church helps me to be a better husband and father by helping me to understand God's plan of happiness for families. Understanding the purpose of life and the eternal nature of family relationships, that families can be together for eternity, gives me the strength to face the day to day challenges of life with faith and purpose. I love that we have living prophets, just as in days of old, to warn and guide us. I know that as I give heed to their words that I, and those I love, can be protected from many of the "dangers" of our day. My church and my faith make me happy and teaches me that men are that they should have joy in this life. All of these things are the fruits of my church. The Lord said by their fruits you shall know them (Matthew 7:20). All of these fruits are wonderful, but the reason that I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is that I have asked God in prayer to know if this is His true church and got an answer from Him through the Holy Spirit. God is our Heavenly Father, He loves us and will answer our prayers if we ask (James 1:5). I know that is true!

How I live my faith

I have spent my working life teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ to young people. I love the scriptures and try to share the words of hope and love from our Savior with others. I have spent many years serving the youth in my church and trying to build their faith by letting them see my faith. I have been a leader in our local Boy Scout troop and helped hundreds of boys build their faith in God and country. I organized activities for the young men and women in our church that helped them to discover who they really are and to help them find their faith in God. All my life, I have tried to show how much I love God and know that He is there by the way I live my life and how I treat and care for others. I believe that faith is something you show by how you live the teachings of Christ. I am not perfect at it, by I am trying to be a disciple of Christ and help others to do the same. Currently I am living my faith by serving a full time mission for the church in Frankfurt, Germany with my wife. I am inviting others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel of Jesus Christ through faith in His atonement.
