Hi I'm Katelyn Burgess

I am an art student, an adventurer, an avid runner, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have loved adventure since I was young and I seek the thrill of life daily. Life has so much to offer, I can't help but feel the need to soak all that it has to give to us up; whether that means traveling, doing outdoor activities, or simply getting to know someone, there is always someway to appreciate life. I am studying Art Education and I love every moment of it. I not only love to learn, but I love to create--so combining the two has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. I hope to have an influence for good as an educator, not merely in the arts, but as a mentor and role model. Teens come from all walks of life and they meet in one place every day to be taught. Many students, myself included, are influenced by their instructors, and I hope to be able to be a source of goodness and hope for my future students.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon; a Latter-day Saint; a Christian, because I have seen and experienced the joy and love that comes from being a follower of Christ. Many people feel as though they have always been Mormon because they grew up in the gospel, like me. However, I feel I was converted to this gospel; I have always believed it was true but there was a time I wanted to KNOW whether it was or not. Ever since then, I have not turned my back on the knowledge I have found for myself. I have been blessed in so many ways because of this gospel. I cannot deny the power of God and the love He has for each of us as His children. Being a Mormon has given me a sense of hope for the future and a place where I can be directed to become a better person so that I too may help others.

How I live my faith

I live my faith daily by striving to be someone Christ-like. I focus on the future and how my actions can either benefit or hurt that. I seek to love all those around me and show them that love by word and deed. I regularly attend church and church activities. I have devoted my life to living as someone who exemplifies charity. I try to give and serve to all those around me and help anyone who may be in need.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Katelyn Burgess
Of course not! Much of the help we give to others are for those who are not Mormons. We do this in the small acts as well as the larger ones. Our church has donated more than $1 billion in cash and material assistance to 167 different countries all over the world. Many of these countries have few to no Mormons. As well as members all over the world, who seek to provide service and love to everyone, not just the Mormon faith, everyday. Show more Show less
