Hi I'm Jenson

I'm nineteen years old. I'm a skier. I'm an avid golfer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to golf. I started at a young age and now play for the my High School team. I really enjoy being outside. So whether its mountain biking, water skiing, snow skiing, running, etc. as long as Im outside I will enjoy it. I love to travel. I wish I could do it more often. I work for my grandfathers business which he is turning over to me. I am currently serving a mission for the church.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church but can't say I was truly converted until I was sixteen years old. Growing up I had relied on my parents testimony to keep my faith strong. Just as every teenager does, I began to puzzle out my identity. As I did this, I no longer wanted to lean on my parents belief in the gospel and wanted to find my own testimony. With the question of whether or not the church was true I did just as I had been taught all those years, I read the scriptures and prayed on it. I did this every night for a few weeks and received no answer. With growing frustration that peaked one day, I took a hike. Kneeling on a mountain all alone, I decided to pray one last time. I remembered stories of people who would get an overwhelming peace wash over them when the spirit confirmed the gospels truth. I longed for that aha moment. So as I kneeled and offered up a prayer, I was kind of giving god one last chance to give me this confirmation. I received nothing. Not even the slightest wave of emotion. I couldn't believe that through all of my devotion I had still received nothing. The next day just happened to be conference sunday. As I sat in my home with my family not really listening to the talks that were given, the lord perked up my ears for just one speaker. Elder Holland came on and gave his talk "lord I believe". Every word that came out of his mouth felt directly targeted at me. The lord gave me the confirmation that I needed. Not in the way that I had expected or the time frame that I wanted but it was exactly what I needed. The truth that I learned that day has helped me continually expand my testimony and grow further in the church. That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by following christ's teachings and by serving a mission in Helsinki, Finland. Christ's teachings are always around love, and so I choose to serve those with love in my heart. My faith in the gospel centers around my understanding of the basic doctrines that are taught.
