Hi I'm Beccah Plate

I have traveled around the world. I love music and reading, and being in the outdoors. I love to serve, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I love to sing and dance to all sorts of music. I absolutely adore learning about other people and their stories, learning about their culture and how they grew up. I am a very social person but at the same time I love to read and be creative with my sewing machine. I am most definitely not afraid to get down and dirty and love to seize the opportunity to experience life in the front seat so to speak. I love to travel but in short spurts, because of my dad's job we have had to move all around the world which made me very close to my family. I love the Asian cultures and languages since the time we have lived there and hope to keep going back. I have met so many different people with different ideas, religions, ways of life and cultures that it has made me eager to meet more.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that it is true. I have seen the power of the Priesthood in my life personally. It is how I decided to go on a mission, there is no way I can deny that this is the true church. It makes sense logically, the time line, the Book of Mormon, the way it was translated, and based off of the Bible the way that Christ organized His church. I know that the Prophet is the Prophet of God put on this earth to help direct us just like the prophet's of old. I know that God is a fair and just God, He wouldn't only save a select few people, that is not fair. I know that the gospel is simple and is true both here in the United States, as well as in Singapore, Paris, even London. The gospel is true and can save everyone if they will but believe in Jesus Christ and come with a broken heart and contrite spirit. God loves us, every one of us.

How I live my faith

Well I volunteer at a Food Pantry for our church twice a week with my father and that has put me where I love to be, serving others. I frequently help out the Young Women in our ward in various activities, most recently I was a cook for the Girl's Camp this year which was a rewarding experience. I love to help organize activities with the Young Single Adults in my region, we are so far apart that I end up bouncing around different areas which gives me greater chance to meet others. My parents are also on the election board so I get to help set up chairs and such in our small community. Where I used to live we would also organize city wide clean up once or twice a year which was a great opportunity to serve the city. But my favorite experience was after hurricane Sandy and I was able to wear the yellow vest of the Mormon Helping Hands. We went out to Rockaway Beach in New York and served all day shoveling sand out of basements, clearing out furniture, toys, and other things that were ruined in the hurricane. We talked with so many people who have seemed to give up hope and we just listened and helped where we could.
