Hi I'm Jake

I like to play Go, climb mountains, sky dive, bike ride, and write in my journal with a fountain pen. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I enjoy studying history generally, and particularly early American history. Science and biology are also favorite subjects of mine. My wife and I love to ride our bikes in all four seasons. Our family enjoys hiking in Utah's beautiful mountains.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because the Church helps me to become closer to my Heavenly Father and to meeting his expectations of me. I am grateful that he loves all of his children enough that through revelation and the power of the spirit he still speaks to prophets on earth today to help guide us back to him. I'm particularly grateful for his influence in my life and those of my family. There is no conflict in my mind or heart between the truths I learn in science and the world around me and the truths I learn through studying the gospel of Jesus Christ. The Book of Mormon and other truths of the gospel that God has reveled in our day, add light and knowledge to my mind and spirit. The organization and programs of the Church help me to serve and to love others and to have a divine and eternal purpose to my life. In times of trial and adversity it is comforting and very powerful to understand that the Lord has a purpose for every challenge or weakness I encounter in my life. Knowing the purpose of life, and that the end of this life, is not the end of life but only a continuation of eternal progress and development, gives me a long term perspective such that I make better decisions than I otherwise would. I do not become quite so discouraged when I make mistakes or become frustrated when things don't work out the way I had hoped. I believe these advantages are not merely due to the added perspective I may have through the gospel of Jesus Christ, but also because by following the Lord, he has promised us that he will bless us with added light and knowledge directly from him. I testify that our Heavenly Father and his son Jesus Christ do in fact live, that they do speak to living prophets, and that they will answer your prayers individually and personally as they have mine. They love you with an infinite love, and want you to be happy in your life and the life to come. I encourage you to earnestly desire and pray to know for yourself that these things are true.

How I live my faith

I currently enjoy serving in the Church by auditing local church unit finances, and by teaching a Sunday school class on teaching in the home. I truly believe the most important work I will ever do is to teach and set a good example for our seven children, to help them become happy and successful in every aspect of their lives.
