Hi I'm Laurel

I climb, I freeze, I paint!

About Me

Sometimes we don't end up where we think we will. Thus I found myself in Alaska for a year and a half on a full time mission. But guess what. I love eating reindeer, bear, and salmon for days! Being late for an appointment because of a moose in your driveway and meeting retired dog sledders completes the package. Before the "mish" I frequented the outdoors, (bouldering, hiking, backpacking, slack lining, rock climbing, fishing, skiing, camping, adventuring, galavanting through the forest). I loved visiting my parents living in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Spanish is the bomb and eating food from different countries rocks. I studied 3D studio art (aka sculpture, ceramics and anything you can make with your hands) for a year at BYU and I am hoping to start a non profit foundation teaching refugees art.

Why I am a Mormon

Around 6th grade I began to wonder what the Book of Mormon said. I opened it one day to see. The next day, I read again. Thus began my lifelong romance with scripture. When I read, phrases stuck out to me. The Lord guided my study even at a young age and taught me of His Son. These personal witnesses turned me to reading the Bible in conjunction with the Book of Mormon, and together they fuel a burning love of the Savior and of His merciful Atonement for our sins. The Savior has responded to this love, by guiding me in serving a mission, studying art, and even in how to get over a fear of the nighttime. He cares about every detail in our lives. I cannot imagine my life without this relationship to Him, and I hope to forever live worthy of it.

How I live my faith

The best way to know Christ is to study His life, and then take His advice! Become as He is. (Matt 5:48) As I have tried this pattern repeatedly, Heavenly Father has sent thoughts and feelings through His Spirit to comfort my heart and add pizzazz to my life. In Alaska we try to do as the Savior did, teaching, serving, and smiling at everyone. Miracles happen in this modern day, and as we have sought to serve: hardened souls have wept tears of joy, burdens have been lifted, addictions conquered, and eternal friendships have been forged. There is no joy like trying to be a disciple of Christ and as I experience miracles I try to praise my Savior, for He is truly is... wondrous.
