Hi I'm Emily

I'm a wife. I'm a stay-at-home mom. I like to sing, play guitar, and write songs. I love science. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Southern California, but most recently, I lived in Utah for seven years. Now my husband, daughter and I have moved to Oregon for new adventures and so my husband can further his education. I taught middle school science for a year before becoming a stay-at-home mom. It has definitely been a hard transition, but I wouldn't trade it. I love being around for all the giggles and milestones. Sleeping in and staying in pajamas aren't so bad either. ;)

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon family. I never had trouble believing, until I started struggling with depression and anxiety in college. But upon studying my scriptures and praying to my Father in heaven, I felt peace. The gospel hasn't been a cure for me and my trials, but my Heavenly Father has given me the strength and comfort I need in order to learn from them. It is by going to church, praying, and getting married in the temple (an eternal marriage and friendship with the man I love) that I have found the most happiness.

How I live my faith

My faith is a part of who I am. It's praying morning and night for strength to be a patient mother or for courage to deal with my fear of driving on the freeway. It's teaching my daughter good morals. It's being an assistant den leader with the scouts - encouraging the boys to be responsible for their actions. It's attending church every Sunday to learn about my Savior, Jesus Christ - even if I spend the last hour just wandering the halls with my wiggly little girl. It's that moment when she stops crying as we walk by a picture of Christ and I know it's because she remembers him from heaven.
