Hi I'm Jonathan

I was born and raised in Canada. I love music and the outdoors. I am currently serving a mission. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Canada and raised on a farm near a small town in rural Alberta. I come from a large family that I love and that is one of the most important things in my life. I have developed a very deep love for music and enjoy playing many different kinds of instruments; the guitar and piano especially. I also love acting and did a lot of drama oriented things throughout high school. I would love for my music or acting to go somewhere but acknowledge the fact that both are difficult industries to get in to. I am planning on pursuing a career where I can help others such as teaching or social work/therapy. Currently I am preparing to leave for two years to serve a mission in Kansas, where I will be speaking Spanish. I was raised in the church and this gospel is my whole life. I am really looking forward to serving a mission.

Why I am a Mormon

There are endless reasons that I am a Mormon, but one of the most personal and meaningful reasons to me is the happiness and comfort that it offers. I have learned that I have great worth, and am constantly reminded of this even in the most difficult times. Being a part of this religion gives my life a purpose and helps me to understand a much greater meaning behind why I am here, where I came from and where I will go after death. I find comfort in the teachings that we can be reunited with loved ones in the life to come which has eased the pain of losing people very close to me. I believe, with everything that I am, that the Atonement of Jesus Christ is real and personal to every person on this earth. Each of us is entitled to make use of this Atonement through repenting of our sins and thus coming closer to our Heavenly Father. When I live in a world where there are so many difficult things and so much hate and uncertainty, the church has become a beacon to me, a guiding light that helps me keep strong through my own struggles. I am comforted and excited by the teachings that I can one day be married with a woman that I love and begin a family with her and that that marriage and that family can extend in to the eternities, that I can have an opportunity to one day be with my wife and children forever and not just in this life. I am a Mormon because of the hope, comfort, happiness and strength that it`s teachings offer to me. I love this gospel and love being a member of this church.

How I live my faith

I strive to live my faith every day by trying to live my life in line with the teachings of the church. Some of the ways I do this are by working with the children and youth in the church. On Sundays I teach a class of young children basic concepts and principles of our religion. I also work with a group of young men both through the church and through the scouting organization. I love serving others and try to offer my service whenever I can. Another way that I live my faith is by preparing to serve a mission for the church, soon I will be leaving for two years to teach others about what I believe and invite them to learn more about the gospel and come unto Christ. Through my preparation and learning I have built and strengthened a testimony of this religion and love sharing my knowledge and beliefs with anyone that I can.
