Hi I'm Samuel Burton

I'm a skier, pianist, and artist. I'm spontaneous. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm the second oldest of five kids and my older brother is one of my best friends. My main hobbies include skiing, painting, reading, piano, designing buildings, and long walks. I can spend hours doing any of those things, and when I focus, I get really focused. Sometimes it makes my mother worry. I try to be spontaneous, just enough to keep life interesting. I love being in the mountains, often with skis under my feet. I love being with plain and simple good people and my life has been blessed with many, both family and friends, peers and mentors. I will be attending college, but first I will be leaving to serve a mission for the Church.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because i was lucky enough to be born into the church. I'm still a Mormon years later because I came to know for myself that this really is the Lord's church restored to the earth. If didn't fully believe it was, I wouldn't be here, because there are other religions that are a lot easier. But it is, and it is well worth it for the way it has set my life's course both spiritually and temporally. I came to believe the story of Joseph Smith and the Restoration the same way anyone can: by diligently seeking to know and asking God. Simply enough, I know it's the truth and it's blessed my life, and that's why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be an example of Christ in my interactions with people, especially my family and friends. I try to love people unconditionally and treat them with respect, no matter what their background, their situation, and their beliefs may be. Though I don't always do so perfectly, I repent when mistakes are made and kept trying. Recently, I had an opportunity to serve as a youth leader at a ranch for boys, where boys age 12-16 can go to be in a good environment to grow closer to their God and to strengthen their testimonies while having a lot of fun and meeting some amazing people. I will be serving a mission soon as well.
