Hi I'm Braxton Renell Cook

I'm from Idaho. I love to be outside and be with my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to play baseball. It's my favorite sport. Skiing is what I do when I can't play baseball. I enjoy eating all different types of food and I'm always hungry. I work at a Potato Warehouse and have for the past 3 summers while I finished High School. I have 2 brothers and a sister and we live with my parents. My extended family lives really close by too and I get to hang out with them a lot. My cousin and I are the ones who go skiing all the time. we are known as the ski bums in our family. My uncles and dad get my cousin and I onto the sand dunes to ride dirt bikes during the summer. Its a great time to get together and enjoy each others company. I also love to stay in shape, and one of my favorite ways to do that is to swim. I competed on my school's swim team for the past 3 years and made it to the state championships in my senior year. My event was the 100 meter backstroke. I took 43rd at state and got a personal record time of 1:09:63. Also in my senior year, I was given the opportunity to pitch for my baseball team in the State Tournament. It was great to be able to make it that far and make one of my dreams from a child come true.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it is the reason that I can keep on living. I have the knowledge of why I am on earth today, where I came from, and what is in store for me. I know that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ live and that they love us. I was once kneeling next to my bed one night. I had just returned home from a night out with my "friends". They had left me out of their plans for the night and decided to not talk to me. I felt so alone. I felt so inadequate, like no one wanted to be around me. I prayed to my heavenly father. I wanted to know if he was actually listening to me, or if i was actually alone in this world with no one to rely on. I asked and pleaded with him to show me that he was real and that he cared for me. Not a word was spoken. I got the impression to test myself to say he was actually there. I thought maybe if i say it aloud, it will actually be true. as soon as i finished the statement "Heavenly Father, I know you live. I know youre there. I know you can help me with anything, so HELP ME." I heard behind me a voice say, "I'm here, and I will help you." No one was behind me, but the voice was clear as day. From that moment on, I knew that this Gospel is everything and the only thing. It is the thing that so many people from the pioneers died for, to give us an opportunity to live this gospel. That is why young men at age 18, 19 or 20 leave their homes for 2 years. They know that this is the true and restored gospel and they want to share it with everyone to make sure they know it is true.

How I live my faith

To live my faith to the fullest of my capacity, I find myself serving whenever I am called for help. I like to go along with the missionaries in my area to teach those people that are currently taking the discussions. I read my scriptures often and pray about the things that they teach me. I visit families that I am not well acquainted with, and get to know them better. I love to attend my Sunday meetings and be able to find the peace that the true and restored gospel of Jesus Christ gives me.
