Hi I'm Cali

I overcame illness. I achieved my college dreams. And I am a Mormon.

About Me

I just finished my undergraduate degree in Psychology, graduating with Honors and Magna Cum Laude. I am now leaving to go to Canada for the next 18 months of my life. I am going there to teach others about the Church and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In terms of hobbies, my family really enjoys yard work. We do building and planting and all sorts of landscaping. Also, I am a fan of movies and TV. I have a brother and sister who are older than me and then one younger brother. My dad is a doctor and my mom has sacrificed to stay at home with us kids. However, she was a piano teacher for many years. I tried to learn piano, but it didn't really pan out for me. Overall, I am a pretty normal, but awesome person, like everyone else. :-)

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in the Church, but that does not mean that I have not had my moments of doubt and hardship. There was a time when I was 16 that I feel very ill and my sickness lasted for the space of two years. I missed out on so many opportunities because I was stuck at home. I became very angry and bitter towards God. I stopped doing those things I was capable of doing and experienced a period of inactivity and doubt in what I had been taught my entire life. However, it was not until I turned to Lord, over a year later, that I felt any physical or spiritual relief and comfort. Although I did not recover instantly, I was better able to bear my burdens and push through the pain and sorrow using the Atonement of Jesus Christ. I experienced joy and love when I finally made the decision to turn to Him. I was forgiven of the things I had done that were wrong and sinful. I felt clean and pure once again. All of this because I came to know how much my Elder Brother, Jesus Christ, loves me, supports me, encourages me, and how much He wants me to succeed and return to Him again. That is why I am a Mormon. I have gone through a fiery trial with the aid of my Savior. He never abandoned me, but was simply waiting for me to turn around and see that He was there. I love my Savior. I love His Gospel. I love being a Mormon.

How I live my faith

There are many things that I do to live my faith. Some of the more measurable things include attending my church meetings, reading my scriptures, saying prayers, contributing tithing or financial contributions, and completing service. I have been called to be a missionary by the Lord and to teach the people in Canada. This will include teaching people who are interested about the Savior, our Heavenly Father, as well as how the Lord's Church is once again upon the earth today. I love teaching about the Gospel. I brings all of us, as brother and sisters of our God, together. In my life, I strive to align my will with the Father's, so that I will experience all of the blessings he has in store for me.
