Hi I'm Mike

I am married, a father, a grandfather, a CPA, a golfer, I enjoy fly fishing, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I recently retired as a partner in a large international accounting firm, where I specialized in tax. I have spent most of my life in Utah but did spend over 8 years living and working in Las Vegas, I have been married to my lovely wife for over 38 years and have 4 great children and 13 wonderful grandchildren. I enjoy fly fishing, golf, hiking, and spending time with friends and family.

Why I am a Mormon

I have, through study of the scriptures, prayer, a great deal of deep thought, and a lifetime of trying to live the teachings of Jesus Christ, come to know that what is taught by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true. That knowledge provides me with an understanding of the purpose of life. That understanding gives me an eternal perspective in how I view life and helps me to establish priorities each day. That knowledge brings me confidence in how to live my life as it allows me to know what is important, even essential, for me to do if I want to be happy. It brings me peace. It teaches me that happiness comes from service to others and giving and not from material possessions. My family is more important to me than anything else.and I know, by knowing that the Church has authority from God, that I can be with my family forever, I know that because Our Father in Heaven loves us he has had prophets through the ages to tell us what he would have us know to live happy and productive lives, and I know through a personal witness from God, that Joseph Smith was one or those prophets and that through him the Book of Mormon was brought to the world and that it is, as is the Bible, the word of God. I know that we have a prophet on the earth today, just as in ancient times that continues to reveal to us God's will and plan for us. I testify to others that if they follow the process that I have, study, deep thought, prayer and trying to live the teachings of Jesus Christ, that they too can come to know the truth and have the confidence and peace that comes from that understanding..

How I live my faith

The Church has provided me the opportunity to develop many great friendships over the years. I have served as the head of 2 different congregations, but I have spent most of my time working with and teaching young men, ages 11 to 20. I regularly taught Sunday youth classes and planned weekly activities for youth in our congregation. Working with young men and young women over the years has provided some of the most fun and rewarding experiences of my life. I have also had the opportunity to spend a great deal of time with and learn much about what is important in life from older members of our congregation as they approached the end of their lives. My family and my church service have brought me the most happiness and satisfaction that I have experienced in my life.
